Becca is turning 1 in exactly a week and she still nurses 3-4 times a day (3 on a work day, 4 on a home day). She's eating 3 regular meals a day, plus snacks, too.

I hear that, and yes I hope for a full nights sleep (just once-I don't think that's too much to ask for!). That's another problem, him looking for the "boob". He attacks me when we're in public when he's ready to sleep or even after he's had a meal. I don't understand that, I always thought "real food" was more filling.

ya id LOVE a good nights sleep too! i hope eric sleeps better soon but last night he actually only woke once! i was so excited.....i think that nursing into toddlerhood can be easier then weaning beccause you arent fighting with your kid to try to distract them from the boob:) lol im just like give them the feeding and get on with the day....or night. o well i hope he gives you a good nights sleep soon so you feel rested!

I would like to thank you for the support. I wanted to breastfeed until he was at least a year. However, I thought it would be a lot easier to wean. It's just that he's not sleeping through the night yet, & I need to be sharp during my day job. It is wearing on me tremendously! Again, I thank you for the support. It looks like he's going to dictate when he'll wean.

mrs k brathwaite, i read in a few books that weaning by abandonment is a risky deal as many toddlers begin the grieving stages as they believe their mom to be dead. and many will have angery or hurtful responses to their mom coming back. i hope your baby didnt have any emotional damage from you leaving but id definately not do it again as you might not be so lucky. remember that babies have no concept of vacations and if you dont come back in a day or so his naural response is to deal with the death his of mommy.

i actually love that eric nurses so much. id never want him to quit so early. i am shooting for the reccommended 2 years minimum. i was just trying to see how often most 1 yr olds nurse. i suggest not weaning until 2, because all the health benifits and emotional benifits too.
lucy, im so glad you are feeding her so much during the night! i know that if i nurse eric more during the day then he wakes to be fed less at night. so obviously it works both ways! its so good she knows she has your undevided love all niht so its not so hard that youre not with her all day. keep it up! i hope you make it a nice long nursing relationship!

OMG!!! I thought I was the only one going through this. I even went away for a week thinking that Nate would drop off & nope, he brought my milk supply right back!!!! I don't know how to get him off! Any ideas?

Amelia is a boobie monster! I work during the day so she just has solids and water but when i come home she's crazy for milk! I bet she has it 10+ times in a 24 hour period as she sleeps with me and nurses frequently through the night.
