How much does your baby weigh?

I am concerned about how big my lil guy is, he is 5 and a half months but seems really small for his age. Every time someone sees him they ask how old he is and then exclaim how they thought he was only like 3 months old... He weighs like 12 pounds or so, maybe 12 and a half. What about you?

my son was full term and weighed 3lb 15oz. he is now 8 months and only weighs 9lb 6oz. everyone thinks he is still new born. they are sending him for tests to see why he isn't gaining a lot of weight. they think he might have a growth problem. the doctors never told me why he was born small, they just said sometimes it happens. they wanting me to have tests done on him when pregnant but i said no cause it could cause me to miscarry. what does your LOs growth chart look like? are you seeing a specialist? xxx

My baby is 8 weeks, breastfeeding and supplementing some formula. At her 1st WIC appointment the other day at 7 weeks she was up to 8lbs 13.5 oz and 21 3/4 inches and I was told she is only at the 5th percent for weight and height!!!! :(, like you I'm tired of the "she's so tiny's" She was 7lb 3 oz at birth dropped down to 6lb 5 oz before we left the hospital and at her two week check she was 7lb 5oz and now last week was 8lbs 13.5oz so I KNOW she is consistantly gaining weight! Also she is VERY ahead with things developmentally, she has been able to roll from tummy to back and hold up her own head since 2 weeks, she goos and coos, smiles and laughs out loud already, focuses on objects all of this at just 8 weeks! I know I'm doing something right here! BUT because of all of the she's so small she's so TINY it makes me feel bad too!

Yeah I asked my doctor why my friends who are breast-feeding have bigger babies, he told me that while breast milk actually has less calories than formula, mother's who breast-feed tend to feed their babies more simply because its easier to put a crying baby on a breast than to figure out if something else is wrong. Whereas with formula the babies tend to eat on a schedule and not get fed at every whim.

hi! well, my baby is 7 months now, but when he was 5, i start with the food and that really helped, you can start with bananas 4 times a day and ask your doctor if he can take vitamins so he can recover the weight...

Don't worry. I get that all the time. My little one was 15 lbs 5 oz at her 6 month check up. My doctor not only told me she was completely normal he plotted out this chart that made it much clearer. He reminded me that formula babies are heavier at first but that this is false weight and not to worry that my little one was smaller than them.

But, check with your Pediatrician to be sure. Its always much better to a worrywart to hear it from a doctor :)

my little guy is 6 months old and weighs 13.8 lbs....the doctors told me to increase his food and to see what he weighs next month...I personally think i have small children...my 4 yr old took a while to gain weight too...I just suggest talking to your doctor when he goes for a check up...My son is doing everything on target for his developmental age just not gaining weight as fast as the doctors would like.

My son is in the 90th percentile in both height and weight. He is 6mo 3weeks old and is 29 inches long and weighs 22lbs. He is height and weight proportionate and the doctor said that was his main concern. That the baby not be too tall but too skinny or shorter and plumper. Too much is not good, a happy medium is best, but all children grow at their own pace and most kids are fine and make up for it in the end.

Hello although my 6month old boy weighs 8and a half kg now (aprox 16-17pounds) my five year old dauughter is very small when she was born she was only five pound and i was full term and at 7 months old she was only 7kg (aprox 14pound) right now she is not much bigger than her 2 year old brother i think theres about 1-2kg of diffrence between them(aprox 2-4pound)but she is very healthy so as long as your babys healthy, eating fine and putting on weight even if its slowly than i wouldnt worry about it.

Riley just had his six month checkup and is 20 pounds and 29 inches long. He was a pretty big baby when he was born though (9lb, 2.6 oz). My friends daughter who is 13 months is only 20 pounds, but she was 3 weeks early and only just under 5 pounds at birth. It all depends on several different things, but I agree that if the doctor says everything is fine, then don't worry.

My daughter is the same way she is very long and skinny. She just turned 6 months on the 28th and is only 14lbs after being born at 8lbs. 10oz. She is 27 3/4 inches long. She still wheres her 0-3 months cloths and some of those are even big on her. As long as your doctor says he is growing ok and what not dont worry to much all babies are different. My sisters son at 6 months weighted like 20 lbs. lol and she is much shorther and skinner than me.

I have a 6 mo old that weighs 17 lbs hes is only 50% for his weight however is 90% for his height, once you start more solids or baby cereals and such he may start to put a bit on slowly.. as long as hes a healthy happy lil dude i wouldnt worry to much! people can be goofy anyways when asking about babies..

my daughter is 6 months old and just broke 13 lbs. So long as he is gaining and healthy there is no reason to worry, trust your instincts and tell everyone else to mind their own business! I used to get so frustrated when people would say "how old is she, she's so small" and now i just say, "she's a super-model baby; tall and skinny!"

My son is 6 months and 15lbs. He was prem and 4lbs 12oz when he was born...I wouldn't worry so long as the doctors happy and the weight gain has been steady...though if bub hasn't put weight on in a few weeks then you probably need to make a change somewhere and talk to your doc again.
