when will the endless falling over and bumping her head on everything possible stop :( I feel so bad! She's so close to walking but she seems to have a magnet in her head that makes her bump it on everything (chairs, tables, the floor, etc...) I feel like she's walking really early too. Is anybody else's april 2009 baby about to get up and go?

My son is ALL boy. He hits his head on something at least once a day. My mom reassured me that baby's heads are hard. At first I felt bad, but when he's easily comforted after falling, I realized that he's not hurt, it's more fear. It's all about the learning process. All kids do it, but it doesn't make it any easier for the mother.

i also felt the same way. I dont know bout you but i have all tile floors throughout the whole house. Mine's been "trying" for the last 2 months and now she is walking all over the place. But i hated watching her hit her head on the tile....I got those big colorful mats that you connect (at sams club) and i tried just keeping her on that while she "practiced" walking!

Oh my gosh, I feel the exact same!! I swear if I didn't know better it would look like my daughter is abused! She has bumps and bruises all over her head!!! But she doesn't want to just sit in the saucer or walker, she has to be on the move... she is quite an independent walker yet, but she is pulling her self up!

Ah you are a great mom - these wee babies of ours are a lot hardier than we think. I had a fall on the ice the other week while carrying my little girl into the house from the car and although I tried to protect her I bumped her head on the ground. I can't begin to tell you how awful I felt - I brought her straight to hospital. After checking her out and observing her the nurses all assured me that she as 100% fine but I gave myself such a hard time over it - I guess it's just something we do now that we are moms.

HAHA! You are NOT a bad Mommy. I took care of my sisters three children while she was finishing college and at one point or another in the walking stage, they all went through this. Think of a baby deer that is just getting used to its legs.. It is a lot like your little one. They have to develop those key muscles that will help stabilize them. :) It's frustrating but she will grow out of it.
Oh, and my other sisters son started walking at 5.5 months. No, I am NOT kidding... I think he has the Hulk gene. lol

you are not a bad mom. my baby just started doing the army crawl so not yet ready to go but my second child was standing at 8 months. He's had his share of head bangs. They are much more resilient than we give them credit for and luckily, thier heads are made very hard :) Unfortunately, we can't protect our kids from everything... but we can try :)
