Hi. I am 38 and a mother of 5. My youngest, Cam, is 9 months old and wont eat baby food. He is currently breast feed, quite well. He eats every 4 hours still...he has since birth. I am starting this week pumping and giving him bottles. He seems fine with the bottle, but wants nothing to do with the baby food I am trying to feed him.

I found with all of my boys they didn't or wouldn't eat unless it was off my plate.... so I make up my meal and put a bit just for them on my own plate..... when you breast feed there tucked in close so there used to being cuddled by you so eating off your plate might make them feel a little better..... i still have my 2 and 1 yr old wanting off my plate ! * chuckles* I hardly get any ..... my 1 yr old is a big eater....

I would try a different brand, my daughter absolutely refused to eat the no name brand baby food but loved the heinz and Gerber Oragnaic stuff

have u tried putting it in a bottle? my 9 month old will not eat her baby food by spoon even though she eats rice, mashed potatoes, and everything else with a spoon. he might like it

Although i have never had this problem with my children...i read that it takes up to eight times when introducing a new baby food to a baby before they will actually catch on. I agree that sometimes the baby just wants to be independent and feed themselves. i gave my 9 month old puff and crackers while i was introducing different foods. he seems to like to have a cracker in his hand while eating his baby food so he has variety. also...try to warm the baby food up in the microwave, not hot but warm. my son was soo used to his milk from my breast being warm he liked his food warm as well. hope that helps.

Have you tried to give him finger foods?? If not I would try that. When my daughter was 4 months I was giving her things that dissolved easy for them such as rice rusks and those little gerber puffs. Those seemed to be easy for her to handle, that was even before I started baby foods with her. I would maybe try thickening it up if you haven't tried that already. I just added some cereal to it. If he doesn't like baby food maybe try going straight to table foods that are soft and easy for him to start with. My daughter started table foods at 6 months because she refused to eat baby foods too. She liked having the table foods. I once knew a child in the past that was on them as early as my daughter because she too did not want baby food and refused to eat it. I would say that you are safe trying the table foods and skipping baby foods if you haven't already tried them. Let me know what you think!! He may just want to be independent and feed himself, my daughter started to be like that at 7 months. Good luck! Let me know how it went. Hope this helped!!
