My 8 month old also LOVES paper. I take it away whenever I catch her, but she still manages to get ahold of it. A friend suggested giving her a sheet of nori (seaweed paper) which she loves also. It makes the same sound as paper, but is actually food and good for you! Hope that helps.

I honestly don't think it is a good idea to allow your baby to eat paper. It may not hurt them but just the thought that they can choke on it makes me stop my child from having paper to play with. That is when I catch him with it. He is so quick it is impossible to catch him every time he finds a piece of paper.

Well my 2yr old LOVES paper and will also eat toilet paper and tissues like they are food - Try as you might to catch them before it happens is impossible - but he seems fine. Lately I've noticed my 8mth old also enjoying paper - I think your best bet if your worried is to just take it off them when you see it happening and dont stress on the bits you dont catch!

I heard it can constipate them but im not sure. My little one loves paper too but he chews it like its gum lol with no intentions of swallowing it haha. I think its funny but i do try my hardest to keep him away from it. They are sneaky though :) you gotta love them!

My daughter loves eating paper. She is so fast. I am trying all my best to stop her eating paper but i cannot. So i don't have to bottle feed her often.....just kidding.

my son like to chew on them to. The only thing I can tell you is to watch her closely and just make sure she don't chock on it. If I see my son stuck a paper in his mouth I will get it out as soon as possible.

Mine gets a hold of paper all the time & sometimes he eats it before I can get it out of his mouth. It happens. It's not like you feed it to her for a meal or anything.

Both my boys are 8 months old and only one of them REALLY likes paper!! He will have 50 toys in front of him, but if there is a piece of paper he will find it!! He is starting to scoot around so he can get all over now and we have to really be on our toes especially with twins!! But we let him play with paper supervised because he enjoys crumpling it up and listening to sound. When he starts chewing on it, we take it away. However there are times when I am sure he ate a piece of it and he has been fine. I just worry about choking. Hope this helps.

Well I guess it depends on what kind of paper, but I try to stop this kind of behavior right away. 8/9 month old babies understand No and many other words already. I know there are some situations where you can't get there quick enough, I understand mine has been crawling for over 2 months and now pulls up to stand on everything....but I would say do your best to keep things like that out of reach for safetly reasons. I would hate to hear of one of your babies choking on some kind of paper! When changing her and other times she needs distracting I give Erin a chew toy or soft toy she can wave around in her hands, like ones with tags on them.

I honestly don't know for sure. I do know she can choke on it. Mine did. During Christmas my little man snuck a bite of Christmas wrapping paper before I could get to him, and the next day it was in his diaper.

I let my son play with paper all the time, he loves it! I think it might be the noise that he likes. The only stuff I won't let him have is newsprint, because of the ink, and I always watch him closely to make sure he doesn't choke. If it makes her happy and makes her gums feel good, I say go for it. I mean, it IS all natural! :P
