My son isn't sitting up on his own either. I was told to put a bunch of pillows around him & sit him up & just let him fall & he will figure it out eventually.

He his well on his way to sitting up by himself. My son would lean all the way down to his toes or fall to one side very quickly and one day I just backed away from him and he was sitting unassisted! It happens fast. Now he's scooting backwards all over the place.

hi! my son turned 6mos on Oct. 29th and he has been sitting up on his own since he was 4 mos...and now he pulls himself up to stand (while holding onto something/someone) ...he even scoots down off of the couch...maybe he's just moving too fast...!!!

My daughter started sitting up unassisted at close to six months; we used the bumbo chair to help her build trunk strength. I picked up a used one for $20 at Once Upon A Child. Hope this helps :o)

Becca still tips over, more often when she's tired, but she sits up unassisted most of the time for up to 10 minutes at a time. She's 6 months and a week, and has been sitting up for around 3 weeks. I started helping her by sitting her up with a Boppy pillow supporting her sides and back, as well as a Bumbo seat---always supervised, on the carpeted floor. She leans forward too, propping herself up with her hands on the floor. She doesn't push herself up to sitting from laying down yet.

Rebecca Hazra: The boppy pillow is the awesome semi-circular pillow that you can use to assist your baby in sitting, in tummy time, sleeping, nursing, ect. (http://shopboppy.com/shop/index.php?main...)

My son has been sitting unassisted for the better half of four months. I used the Boppy & my very best friend in the whole wide world, that I think every mother should own...the BUMBO! He sits in there all the time, still does. Better & more portable than a kid chair or highchair, goes everywhere with him. We're talking trips, the park, games, everywhere. They even sell little trays for them to make it easier for eating. Helped Kevryck learn to sit up straighter because of the design, play with toys, eat finger foods & what not.

My daughter will sit up on her own if shes sitting between my legs - as long as she can feel me shes good. Im NOT supporting her at all, just barely touching her. So now its just a matter of her being brave enough to do it on her own without the touch of mommy!!

My little guy is a little "top heavy" so he kind of folds himself in half and then flops over....but he doesn't care...he laughs when he crashes into a pile!!

honestly girls there are no hard and fast rules on when babies should be doing things, keep encouraging them, keep them practising and they will get it. This is my fourth child and each one has been different!

Just keep trying! I put toys in front of Jakob so he can focus on them and spread is legs further open. i found that helped him balance, now he sits on his own! Good Luck

Matthais will stay sitting up longer if he has toys he can reach. We put a small rubber maid box next to him full of different little toys he can pull out and he loves to grab the toys and/or dump the box to play. If toys are out of reach he leans/falls over so he can get to them.

He will get the Hang of it sounds like he is doing good so far that is how jaelyn started also she is sitting up all by herself now and no toppeling over. just encourage alot of play on the floor with him I gave jaelyn alot of sit up toys to play with and turned on childrens music and she just has the best times on the floor now. I also do sensory play with her while she is sitting and I do exercise after breakfast it helps her learn to sit stand and lay down .... These are just some of the things i do daily with her and so far it has helped her learn to sit up by herself ... now she is trying desperatly to crawl so i need advice and info on how to encourage crawling. hope this helps

my daughter abby would scoot all over the floor and still wouldn't sit without support a month ago. finally i sat her up with the bobby behind her to cushion a fall, but not touching her to support her, and gave her a toy to play with and she played while sitting strait up for a few minutes and i realized the real reason she wasnt sitting was because she was too interested in exploring everything and wouldn't sit still for anything. now a month later she sits up by herself, from laying on the floor, and pulls herself up to a stand, and just a couple days ago started crawling with her belly off the floor. she seems to do all her milestones in bursts. 3 weeks nothing at all, then all the sudden she will have 5 in a two week period!
