My twin boys were born 2 weeks before their due date, so I guess they could be considered preemie, but they are not sitting up yet and I tend to worry about them. They both roll over both ways, both are trying to crawl, and they sleep through the night. I need some advice on what I can do to help them or if this is completely normal for preemie twins. I recently purchased 2 Bumbo seats for them so hopefully they will help!

Thanks ladies for all the help....the Bumbo seats have really seemed to be helping the boys...Brody will sit un supported for about a minute now and brock is still working. Thanks again for all the replies!

My son started sitting without support at about 6 months and my pediatrician was impressed so I assume he was early. He cannot get himself into a sitting position on his own and he is 8 months old. He can't crawl yet either. Kids decide to do things at their own rate. I have a neighbor whose son has been crawling since he was about 6 months old. My niece rolled around and did not start crawling until she was at least a year old. Don't worry too much about it.

My twin boys are so completely different in this! (They were born at 36 weeks) One can get himself into a sitting position, crawl, and pull himself up on things. The other can sit, but I have to get him there and is showing no interest in crawling. I'd give it a little time. Sometimes it just takes some longer than others. If you're still concerned at their next well check (should be coming up soon) then talk to the doctor about it then!

Do you mean that they are unable to push themselves up into a sitting position or that they are unable to remain sitting when you put them into a sitting position?
I don't know much about twins, but my daughter was born 2 weeks early as well and has been able to remain sitting for several months now. She is currently 7 1/2 months old. She is almost, but not quite, able to put herself into a sitting position.
Be sure you are giving them plenty of "tummy time" on the floor. It helps improve their trunk strength which, in turn, will allow them to remain sitting for increasing periods of time. Also, I spent many hours on the floor with my legs spread apart and my daughter sitting between them so she could build strength and learn about balance without constantly falling over.
I truly believe that every child develops at his/her own rate. But, I did find this article on the American Academy of Pediatrics website for you. It has a list of things that a child should be able to do by 7 months of age. I thought you might find it helpful.
