lol my twin girls are also 7 months and not quite crawling. I am just really trying to work with them. Increase tummy time. Today one of them started to sorta do a crawl/slinde, but backwards. Oh well they are trying and it's progress. Very well might skip the crawling, but at 7 months there is still a way to go before we should really expect walking. Just stick to the tummy time routine with the favorite toy a little in front, to tempt movement toward the toy. :)

Our daughter is 7 months yesterday. She is not crawling, but getting close. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. She sits up totally unsupported too. I think that all babies develop differently though....so there is really no way to tell if they will start crawling now or later..... Plus, I think the average is crawling at 11 or 12 months and walking at 13. Believe me...I am in no rush for her to start crawling.... Talk about having no time to do anything anymore ;)

Quoting Jocelyn:

Neither one of my boys is crawling yet and they are 7 1/2 months. One is really trying, the other could care less. They'll do it when they're ready!

wow this sounds just like my 7 and a half month old twin girls! I think they both are trying but one is trying a little harder and moving backwards instead lol!

my daughter just turned 7 months & isn't crawling either because she will do anything to avoid being on her tummy...when she is on her tummy she pushes her self backwards which defeats what she's trying to get at & gets frustrated.lol. But she's been quick to develope on everything else...she started sitting unsupported at 4/12 months & that's also when she said mama...so she's progressing in other things...as long as they progress in other aspects of their developmental phases...it's all good!! I actually find that socializing babies with other babies helps them develope...my girl learned to wave hi when she was playing! so cute!!

My son didn't crawl till 10 months but my little one started at 28 weeks..... All depends on the baby. They all get there in the end, so don't worry!! xxx

My baby is 7 months old as well, and is not crawling or even rolling over. I think for her some of it is her weight, she is a bit chunky. But yet it's still kinda early and is not a problem, all of them will do it when they are ready and whatever is most comfortable for them.

My son born 4/11 doesn't crawl yet. He rolled down the hallway at 3.5 months much to my suprise however. He can sit unassisted only for a short period of time because he just wants to MOVE!! He does the inch worm thing too. He can move his jumper around the house now. He definately wants to go. My brothers child born 3/2 is just now crawling. My friends child born 4/9 is also doing the inch worm thing but not crawling. Both of them are content to sit and play with toys for long periods of time whereas my son would never do that. Depends on the child momma be patient yours will be moving before you know it. Right now be happy that you still have containment on your side and don't have to worry about light sockets, etc.

My first daughter was determined to push herself into a sitting position before learning to crawl. She was probably 8mths or older before she crawled. She didn't crawl very long before she started walking.
My new baby can sit unassisted but isn't crawling yet. She is 7mths.

my daughter will be 7 months on november 30th and it sounds like she is doing pretty much the same thing. she can sometime sit without assistance but it is only for a short period of time. she rolls a lot to get around and i can tell she is trying to crawl before she would just fully extend her arm and now she starting to bend her knees.

Don't worry..my daughter skipped crawling altogether. The doctor at the time said it was very common and not to worry.Whenever she wanted to get somewhere..she rolled there! It was too funny. Anyway, she is 11 now and completely normal and suffered no ill effects from not crawling, everything else developed normally.

My daughter, Iree, is 7 1/2 months old now and she doesn't crawl, but she rolls all over the house!! I think she has figured out that its faster that way. I know she's strong enough because she moves her body all over to get where she's going. She sits up well and even stands for a while holding on to something. Babies just develop differently.

hey,

my son is also 7 moths old and isnt crawling yet. he's moving kinda like an inch worm, but no crawling as of yet. I'm not overly concerend, most babies take their sweet time and will crawl when they're ready! =)

My 7 1/2 month old is not crawling yet and doesn't even like tummy time all that much...not sitting very well unsupported yet, either. I think it's b/c he's so big! When I think about all the weight (porpotionally) he's trying to hold up, I don't think I'd be able to do it either! :-) BUT he hasn't STOPPED developing or regresssing so I guess things are OK. ;-)

U can encourage your baby by putting something he really wants in front of him but out of his reach so he will keep trying to reach it. That's what i was doing with my daughter, but she wasn't too keen on reaching her regular toys, but she was more interested in things she can't have like a mobile or a remote control, so i was putting it in front of her and when she reaches it i was letting her to hold it for few minutes so she will be interested to reach it again, and than put it out of reach again. If your baby starts crying that u take it away just give him some toy. It's just a game really but in my experience it does encourage them to move forward in anyway they can an eventually they reach it by crawling. Hope it helps.

Don't worry too much. Your baby still has plenty of time to learn. Everybody starts whenever their muscles are strong enough to do that, so be sure your baby will start crawling and it will happen when u least expect it. Like my baby girl, she is 7months and 1 week and just all of a sudden day before yesterday started crawling!!! I was so surprised and soooooo happy!!! It's amazing to see your baby crawl!! Give your baby sometime and u will be surprised too!!

Hi Ti'ree!
I'm new to the forum, but my Abby isn't crawling yet and she is nearly seven months old... She really wants to move, tho, and I can see her little brain trying to figure it out. is he at least trying to figure out how to move? Abby's main motivation seems to be that she wants to GET things (anything - paper, remote controls, toys, whatever is around...), so I think it's coming soon.

According to my mom I didn't crawl until I was 9 months, then a couple weeks later I was up and walking around. My daughter is just about 7 months and will do an army crawl, but that's it. She loves to walk around with the help of someone holding her hands.
