I have a 16 month old son and as any parent I am tired of changing diapers... How do you know they are ready to potty train? What is a good age to push it?

when my son started to pull at his diaper, and when changing became really difficult, we started with the potty trainning (14 months) we did a month of only 2 potty times a day (morning and before bed) and it worked out really good, so now we are doing 3 a day and it is going good so far and he is staying dry between pees. It's really hard to get then to be fully trained to use the potty until they can really tell you that they need to go, until then you just need to try to understand the sings that your child gives you to say that they are peeing or need to pee.

What ever you do you shouldn't push it... let them think they are doing it on their own and it will go better!

we tried potty training at 14 months.. she had it down for a week then she started rebelling.. i had heard that this may happen.. so i just put the potty up and she forgot about it. we just moved into our new house and so i thought i would try again.. i know that they go through alot during a move but i figured this would be a perfect time since she knows nothing about the new house, but here is alot of info... just check it out and click on all the links.. my daughter turned 16 months today and we started doing this on monday (since im a stay at home mom) & the first two days were so hectic i was ready to give up plenty of times (good thing we have wood floors). but yesterday she only had two accidents on the floor, and so far today we haven't had any!! she has been going outside all week (with a pull-up on) and has stayed dry every time. but you HAVE to stay consistent. Also, from my experience, let them sit down by themselves and don't pick them up and PUT them on the potty cuz they want to feel like they are in charge. and i felt bad with the naked part so i just put her in a t-shirt but thats it lol. i know they say not to start them until 18-24 months, but every baby is different and i've noticed my daughter learns things VERY quickly. hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!! http://www.babycenter.com/0_potty-traini...

My daughter started taking her diapers off all the time shortly after her first birthday. Everyone I mentioned it to told me to give it a try nad sure enough we got her a potty and she would go in it. How ever i read that it's not a good idea to start potty training around a move. and we moved shortly after so we stopped for a little bit and now I can't get her back into it. Alll she wants to do is wipe hers self lol.

Is he taking his diaper off or telling you when he's wet? I heard those are signs of being ready to potty train.
