Not having a bowel movement in days :(

Its common for Bf babies not to poop as often up to 7 days i was told by my Dr. If she is not in pain i might mention it to the doctor but i probly wouldnt worry about it too much unless it becomes hard and rabbit poop like. My son is on Lactulose to help his stool because he gets very constipated and is in a great deal of pain, he cries and screams and tenses up as he tries to push.

have u tried the vaseline trick? when my son was younger he got constipated after no change in his diet and i could tell he was really uncomfortable. my friend suggested i try the vaseline trick u just put a big glob of vaseline on either ur finger or a q-tip n rub it around thier bum hole and usuaqlly the stimulation makes them poop instantly! its gross but it works!

Oh also try mylicon drops and/or putting a peppermint candy into a bottle with either water or breast milk if you pump. That helped my oldest when he was a baby well both of those did.

Well for one apples make you poop. They have told me to give my son diluted apple juice if he's constipated for a few days and it's bothering him. Maybe try Gerber prune/apple juice with your baby. My son was constipated for like a week and he was miserable. We tried everything known to man until I called the doc and they said to give him prune juice. I bought gerber prune/apple and about 15 minutes after drinking it he became very regular.
But if she doesn't seem miserable then I wouldn't worry to much. You can try and talk to your doc about it though.

I am not sure where you live, but in Canada (and I am pretty sure they have them in the US as well) there are probiotic drops (all natural - its the same as what is in Activia yogurt that helps adults poop) called Bio Gaia or you can go to any health food store and get a powdered version of probiotics. We had a similar problem with our daughter when we started foods (she is still breastfeeding as well) so we talked to the pediatrician and he recommended them. They are all natural, nothing bad in them, nothing to react to - it is basically yogurt. We have since gotten the okay from the Doc to introduce yogurt so now we feed her a couple tablespoons of Activia every morning (its much cheaper than the drops!) and it has worked really well! My Dr. also told me when I was breastfeeding that it is normal for that to happen. My DD hadn't pooped in a week. She said if it is any longer then a week/ week and half then be a little concerned and call.

Thank you, Amanda. I hope it'll get better, too. No matter how much they tell you that it's OK for your baby to poop 2-3 times a week, I still think that my baby should go at least every day :)

My daughter had that problem...well she was a few months old but with solids its harder for them to digest the food...I was told if she went 2-3 times a week was fine but believe me i was so concernd! Other than that do what your doing prune juice and things to help her maybe try apple juice that helps too... Hope it gets better...

Giving them baby juice, pedialyte or water with a little bit of karo syrup helped my daughter when she would get constipated. If it starts becoming long intervals such as 3-4 days they do have baby laxative suppositories that help get things moving. What works for me as well is diaper ointment or vasoline, seems to soften the flow, lol :) Goodluck!

my son had that problem and the dr told us its compeltly normal for them to not poop up to 4 days..try doing the bicyle legs or give her a warm bath or massage her stomach..they told us that that will help push down a bowl movement! my son is on a medicine to help his bowl movement and so is his cousin who is 2 weeks younger than him, so maybe talk to your dr?
