So, it's been a whole year... Our little ones have definitely grown... But how much?

Mine little girl turned one on the 9th and today was her one year checkup. Turns out she is in the 25th percentile at 19lbs 13ozs and 28.5 inches tall.

I'm curious on how accurate the percentile is amongst other babies...

My little boy turned one on the 9th. He is fifty-fifth percentile in height, twentieth percentile in weight. He was also a preemie, and looks like a little skinny old man! He is so dang cute! lol.

Mine is a boy, born on the 3rd and on the 9th had his checkup. 31 inches, 24 lbs., 75th percentile. Not sure about the accuracy of the percential. A friend's baby weighed a couple of ounces less than mine and she was told 90th.

Thanks for all the updates! I do love having a smaller child. It helps on the back. LOL. I was concerned about her being so small, since we did have an issues with her gaining weight in the first month. I'm so pleased to hear that she's more than normal. :)
I still think it's just going by way too fast, though!

the only reason why doctors check centiles is to make sure there is no drastic variation. If your child was in the 25th percentile at birth and is at 95th percentile at 1yr they might refer you to an endocrinologist for a check up as there may be some unusual reason for they huge growth spurt. the point is that they should stay more or less on the same centile whether that is the 10th or the 98th... : )

My son was 1 on 2nd april,he weighed 23.15lb and was 30.5in.hes in the 75th centile for weightand length, and off the chart for his head measurement(hopefully full of lots of brains)lol. He was 5lb 7oz born so hes doing really well.

I don't go by the percentile because using the percentile on all babies is not fair. My son weighed 6lbs 10oz when he was born and has been in the low percentile since but he is getting compared to every baby his age so that means a baby that weighed 10lbs at birth is going to be bigger than my son. If it was weight classified it would be different but not all babies weigh the same at birth but then are all classified together for the percentile. Doesn't make any sense.

My twins were born weighing 6lbs 6oz and 5lbs 12oz and just turned one on the 16th. They weigh 27lbs and 26.5 lbs and are both 32inches tall. Both weight and height in the 95 percentile. (:

My boy turns 1 next week, he weighs 26 lbs and is in the 90 percentile.

Here is a chart that will let you figure the growth percentile for yourself...

My Son turned 1 today and he has been holding strong at 21lbs for the past month or so. He has his 1 year appt. thurday so we will see what the doc says. He is around 19 inches long. He is very active we call him a busy body becuase he just does not stop unless he is sleeping. (which is 2 or 3- 2hour naps a day and 11 hours at night).

this is interesting reading. i always wondered why they used the percentiles as kids vary so much in weight and height. this makes perfect sense!

My boy was one on the 9th aswell! His next check is not till 15 months. His last one was a 9 months when he 25lbs and 30inches. (but he has always been in the 80s-90s in percentile). He's put on a tonne since then, my back can feel it! I'm hoping it will balance out once he's walking

Gosh I feel so much better! My little guy has been hovering around at 20 pounds for the last month or so. Our 1 year check up is soon (like next week I think) and I'll be curious to see what he weighs. Our scale at home says 20 still. He eats like a horse all the time , but wiggles like a worm all the time too! I'm glad other babies are weighing in around the same! Thanks for the reassurance!

My son turned 1 today, but his appointment isn't until next weekend. At his last visit (at 10 months) he was 30" & 22.5 lbs. I'm not sure where he's at now.

My daughter was 17 days early and measured in at 6.7 pounds, 18.5 inches. She turned one on the tenth, and at her check up (on the ninth) was 18.something pounds and 29.5 inches. She is in the 25th % for weight and the 50-55% for height. Our doctor said that they use the numbers just to check that the kids are developing, and that they don't compare them to other children, but to themselves. As long as they continue to grow and don't have any concerning jumps or regressions, don't worry about it.

J was born on April 3rd - we went last week to the doc's, and he is in the 90th percentile in height (31.75)- but only the 25th percentile in weight (20 lbs 10 oz)

I think there are different charts so your child could be in one percentile on one chart and another on a different one....I think the point is to watch that your child is growing at an appropraite rate. I known it isn't good if they "jump bars" on the chart. That would be an indication that something was off so I think that is why they chart their growth.

My son turned one yesterday and hasn't had his check up yet.I haven't had him weighed since he was 4 months old and he was 22lb 13oz then,so I hate to think how heavy he is now!
Looking at the weights of some of your children,I am not sure how my son is so big, although he was 3 weeks early and weighed 10lb 12oz.

My daughter turned one on Apr. 2nd and is in the 25th percentile, too. She's 19lb. 4oz. and 29 in.
She weighs the same as I did when I turned one. My pediatrician said a lot of it is hereditary. But I like having a smaller baby girl! She's as happy and healthy as ever.

My boys turned 1 on the 10th. They are within 3 oz of your daughter and they told me they were in the 10th percentile. Interesting. One is 30.7 in tall and they said he was in the 75th percentile in height. Funny. They were born small 5 & 6 lbs and have always been in the 10th percentile. But they are happy and healthy so I'm happy!

I always liked to hear how my kids compared to others and laugh. My sons are both supposedly in the 95th and above for weight and down near the 75th for height. My one year old is about 23 pounds. Don't know his height.

You know, my doctor never gives me percentiles. I asked him once for them and he said, as long as my baby is healthy why should I care to compare her to others? So I didn't ask again. Ella doesn't turn one until the end of the month, so I won't know how much she weighs officially until then. I am curious at the results.

My first pediatrician before we moved never gave us percentile numbers. It seems to be a number that parents get worked up about for no reason. As long as your little girl is happy, healthy, and growing (whether or not she is in the 25th or 95th percentile) that is all that really matters. My little girl turns one the end of the month but at nine months she was 20 lbs and 27 inches long, not sure what percentile that is.
