Ok idk how much help this will be so much as just a funny story...



So I knew you weren't supposed to have periods while you were breastfeeding. I haven't had one yet which I didn't think aything of since I am breastfeeding still. Then about 2 weeks ago I threw my back out and it wasn't getting better so I went to the dr and he wanted to give me a prescription but wanted to make sure I wasn't pregnant and since I couldn't tell him we wanted to makehen my last period was he ordered a test to be safe and guess what...I'm pregnant! So while maybe your body is just taking its sweet time to get back on course but you might want to get a test done just in case.

I think everyone is different. if you are still breast feeding it is normal not to get it until you stop. I had to stop breast feeding when my son was 8 weeks old and now he is almost 9 months and i have only had 3 periods! Every 3 months which is really weird. But i think sometimes it just takes awhile for your body to go back to normal.

my dr. said that if youre bfing, you may not get yours until you stop or a year.

My son was also born on April 20, I have yet to have a period also. I am not breastfeeding though and did not have regular periods before i conceived. Glad im not the only one waiting on a period since he has been born...lol :)

my son was the 20th as well and i have had about 3 periods i am also pregnant again mine came back 5 weeks after he was born and i breast fed him till he was 5 months old if you are worried speak to a nurse or doctor good luck

My fifth baby was born on April 5th. I have only gotten one. And that was in October, but he had started eatting a little less and picked back up again. Haven't had one since. I have taken a couple of tests just to be sure. I hope that all the input you have gotten has been helpful. It was very interesting and reasuring for me too. Thanks for the question.

I have had a period every month since then and the only good thing is that now almost a year later, they only last about 4 days and are very lite instead of 7 days of heavy periods where i just wanted to stay home to control it. If you are worried, i would speak with the OBGYN but I don't think there is anything to worry about as everyone is different and your body may take a bit to return to its normal routine :)

I am yet to get a period also (bub was born 21st) but am not worried as he still feeds quite often.

Everybody is different. I have had good results with taking herbs in the past to help with hormonal things.

I do know it doesn't mean you aren't ovulating.So can still fall pregnant.

i think you must feel a bit relief by now. mine is 9/4 and i am now bf on demand. still havent gotten my period yet. i enjoy the moment as there's no need to worry about being 'late' :)

I had my baby on March 30th (he was due April 6th!). I just started my period. Yuck. I actually spotted two weeks ago and have started again in full force. Apparently it is sporadic & unpredictable at first when you DO finally start. Are you breastfeeding? Sometimes breastfeeding will delay the start of your period. I breastfeed my boy and have just started going to only evening nursing because of my job. My friend told me she didn't start her period until a year and a half after giving birth. She breastfed, too. Hope this reassures you!

my baby is the 16th, i just weaned off my baby from breast feeding so i have only had 2. it will return but until then enjoy it lol.

This is what most people think... but every woman is different and their hormone levels are different. If you read the comments there are many who got it 6 weeks after their baby was born and some who still haven't got theirs -- both breastfeeding.

My daughter was born on April 18th and I have had my regular period since May, but she only nursed for about a week and a half and my doctor put me on birth control in June, so...

My baby boy was born on the 7th!

Saying that it won't return until you start weaning is not true! I breastfed both my boys and with my first I got my period back when he was 3 mos old. This time round.... I got my period when my youngest was 4mos old. (And I'm not on anything for birth control. Generally women don't get their period back until their little ones are around 7-8 mos old or older (...when they are eating more solids.) Unfortunately for some of us... we get it a lot sooner and it's not fun (Heavy & regular - at least mine was). I just reason that my body wants to be pregnant again since I have really great pregnancies!

My son was born on April 4th & I have had a period every month since then. Are you breastfeeding? I never breast fed so that may have something to do with it.

I had my son on the 20th as well and my period came back when he was about 2 months old. It was crazy too! I used to have really bad cramps that required pain killers, but after having him. I can hardly tell I'm starting! The pain is no where near as bad as it used to be. I was still breastfeeding at the time also (didn't stop breastfeeding until a month ago). It varies from woman to woman. If you are concerned, it doesn't hurt to call your OB.

I had my fourth (and last..lol) baby on April 20th. My period returned mid-July. I wasn't breastfeeding and was very active(maybe brought it on faster??) Every body is different, if your doctor isn't concerned then you shouldn't be. My periods are stronger and last a little longer and makes me wish I hadn't started them yet..lol No worries, you'll be just fine :)

I'm breastfeeding and haven't gotten it yet. I know someone whose son is almost 2 and she still hasn't gotten it because she's breastfeeding and another person who got it a month after her baby was born even though she breastfed. It varies widely, as long as your breastfeeding I wouldn't worry, just enjoy that it's one less thing to worry about :)

My munchkin was born April 3rd, unfortunately, I wasn't able to breastfeed for very long (too much stress), so mine came back in May or June, so not very long after my little guy was born. With my first son, it came back 4months after he was born an I nursed until he was a year old. A lot of it depends on your body.



Also, if you have been having unprotected nookie with your hubby, you CAN get pregnant even though you don't have a period yet. So keep that in mind. You need to use some form of birth control; I LOVE my IUD, No worries and my periods are lighter.

I havent had a period since I had my first child in Feb 06 and I have since had two and had no issues getting pregnant or anything, have breadfed all of them so I am not worried just think it will return on its own

I got mine when my baby was 7 months old... when he was eating a lot of solids and not breastfeeding as much for some reason.. all of a sudden there was my period..and it's been with me ever since..

I doubt there's anything to be worried about..I think it's normal for about 12 months to not have a period?

I wouldn't worry about it...It seems like every woman is different... My daughter was born on the 16th of April...and I was exclusively breastfeeding... I got my period when she was almost two months old and have had one each month since....all while still breastfeeding...



I'd say just enjoy not having them for a while :)

I had my 4 weeks of bleeding then a period 2 weeks after that. Then I found out I was pregnant. Due Feb 14th 2010, but just gave birth Dec 12 2009 to twin girls California and Canada at 30 weeks

Jana, you can still get prego while BF, my Mom was BF when she got pregnant with her second and third babies! She got prego right at 9 months with both.

My daughter was born on the 10th, still BF on demand, but she is down to only about 5 times a day because she eats so much spoon food and has 4oz of juice a day also. I don't have my period yet either, only a tiny bit of spotting one day last month!

My son was born Aptil 17 and is still nursing tons at night and I haven't had a period yet. Its pretty normal though I have heard. I'm not worried and I don't miss it. True about the sex drive though.

Hey all...have just seen this conversation about periods...I have had 2 kids before and I never had my periods until much later after delivery. Now with my 3rd, I took some herbal concoctions (another story for another day) which caused my periods to come in floods!! The last time I had periods that heavy was in my youth!>>.:) I was told that the concoction cleans out the system...it acts like a cleanser/detoxifier...however, I was not ready for the surprising results! So dont worry Elizabeth...I would have been in the same boat as you had it not been for this foul tasting mixture I took... Mama Kaylen

I think it actually was a full moon.... I know there was one right before I was induced... mine was born the 23rd.  I remember thinking... oh a full moon- women always have babies on full moons. LOL

my son was7mths wen i got mine it was very light & lasted 2dys. it started 3dys after i had a load of blood tests to find out why i'd not had 1 yet & the results showed i have hypothyroidism caused by my pregnancy i wasnt bf so if you still havent had a period yet it might be worth going to see the doc if your baby is bottle fed. if you are breast feeding u may not have a period untill you stop

I had my son on the 19th. He was in the NICU so I could only pump. That lasted 6 weeks. My period took 6 months to return then it lasted 6 weeks!! I was worried too but dr said everyone is different, depending on their bodies.

I have not gotten mine yet, I am still breastfeeding. I stopped breastfeeding my first at 6 months and it took about 3 more months to get my period, but I also know women who got periods while breastfeeding, so it really depends on you.

Mine returned this month even though I'm still breastfeeding and baby hasn't started to wean. She still nurses 5 times a day for the same amount of time. The same thing happened w my 1st born. I nursed him until he was 1 & my period returned when he was about 10 months or so. :( Was kinda nice to not have it for 17 1/2 months!!

Mine is on the 21st I had 1 period for the first time 2 weeks ago doctor said that if your breastfeeding it's normal your body produces some kind of hormone forgt the name and for some people causes you not to have a period until you start to ween,mind you I haven't started to ween yet.I'd say be happy :)
