Presents for first birthday..

How fun everyone!! My daughter will be one next Sunday, 25th, and we got her a doll house, Lincoln Logs (that gift is more for us, LOL!) and a baby grocery shopping cart (she loves pushing things too!). I love the idea of the sand box!! Good luck and HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYONE!!! CONGRATS :)!!

we bought a little tikes slide (hoping for a warm summer) and a few lttle toys, (push along wooden toy on stick, and in the night garden plush toy. We have asked family to buy her puzzles (ie melissa & doug toys) a little table & chairs of her own (as it will last her years for playing, reading books, drawing etc) and a little wooden trike so she can push herself along

Our son's birthday is today and we bought him a Little People set. His name is Landon and the Little People set is called Pilot Myles Landon so we thought it would be fun for him especially since it has his name on it!! He loved it this morning and coul dnot wait for us to take it out of the box. While we put it together, he sat patiently in the box waiting for us! ;) We also bought him a 4 in 1 toy. It is a ride on thing but it gradually moves up as he grows. It has a circular bar around it so when he sits on it, he will not fall over. It also has a long upright handle for us to push him. When he is older, we can take the bar off as well as the handle so he can ride on it on his own. It is really neat and he really liked it too!!

I am book crazy too Susie so Landon recieved a few from us as well. He loves the series That's not my.... they tractor, puppy, dragon, airplane, baby etc. It is touch and feel and Landon just loves them! If you have not seen them, check them out!!

My daughter's b-day is also today, the 2nd. I got her a toy from toy's r us that is a three in one. You can ride it, or it can be a stroller or wagon for her babies. sometimes i think they best gifts are those they can start to use and still be playing with in 2 years, especially at their age.

My daughter, who just turned one today, and her older brother, who is 2 1/2, both love the boxes more than the gift that is inside of it...so I decided to get her a Bilibo for her birthday. It is a toy that has no defined purpose- much like a box. Both kids LOVE it. They have made it into a hat, a bowl, a spinning seat, and that was just in one day! I would suggest watching the video on the Bilibo webpage; I am not doing the toy justice here. Good luck!

we are stumped for our daughter too. My son is 4 and she gets everything he had...for his 1st bday, we built a HUGE swingset/jungle gym, 2nd a pedal tractor 3rd a pottery barn kitchen set and play table and 4th a real 4-wheeler...lots to live up to, huh?

BTW, my daugher loves her playschool walker/push behind stroller. she puts everything in there and take sit for a walk. it is so cute!

we got my son an Easter outfit, 1 toy(fridge magnets farm by Leap Frog) and some new bibs. keep it simple. they don't really understand birthdays yet

I got my daughter "busy ball popper" by playskool. very hard to find only place i could get it was argos! Very good, saw my neice wi one and she loves it! Great to encourage crawling and tidying up!!

My son will be 1 on April 25th and we ordered him the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe Car. My husband and I both had one when we were little and now it comes with a floorboard so our kids dont drag there feet. I found it cheapest at walmart.

We set up a Wish List on Toys R Us. I put about 15 various priced items on it, including books. Wagon, Little Tykes car, bubble lawn mower, outdoor toys. We are probably getting him a plastic kiddie pool and sunscreen :) Grandma got him a big boy carseat already.

We got our daughter a Little Tykes play land that has a baby swing and a slide, a Little Tykes picnic table and other outdoor toys and things to do. This year it will be much easier to be outside with her since last year she was too young to do the fun stuff!!!

we found a great deal on a sand and water table for the deck that has an umbrella. Our little guy will love playing outside this summer.

My son will be 1 on April 7th & I don't know what to really get him neither..I am thinking about some outside toys cause he loves it outside..I am going to be having his Birthday party on April 10th instead of the 7th cause his Grandparents can't come till the Weekend..Cause they work..I know that babies they love anything especially empty boxes..For Christmas instead of my son playing with his toys he was playing with Empty Boxes instead of his toys

We are having only family at me sons April 20th birthday. I'm not big into parties for little ones but the family wants one so we are doing it. When they ask about gifts I tell them things we know we will be needing or wanting in the next year. So he's getting - bathtub toys & accessories since he loves bath time and is still in the baby tub right now (they can also be used in the kiddie pool), and a couple simple wooden puzzles, and something to climb on since that is a new skill he is working on. Our best gift came because when people kept asking what he wanted I would say a fenced in Yard not thinking we would actually get one but, yeah, he will have a safe place to play this summer!

My son Conner will be one on April 6th. He loves being pushed around in a little Hippo we got at a garage sale, but it is hard on our backs to bend over and push him around the living room on our knees. So we got him a Step 2 Whisper Ride buggy. It has a handle on it for parents to push. Also, since he loves to be outdoors, we got him a Fisher Price Bubble mower. Now I'm looking for a toy he can pull, since he loves to push, pull, or ride on things.

What does your baby love to do? That will help you decide what to get.

Just fill a box full of tissue paper and/or wrapping paper. That is the only thing she plays with when people give her presents. That is what I am planning to do for her birthday on the 26th. Also, times are financially hard, and your child won't be emotionally affected if you don't get him/her a perfect gift. As long as they are surrounded by love ones that are giving her/him all the attention, that is the best gift!

I think a great present would be a sandpit for the backyard! Kids have so much fun getting dirty and then you can give me a lovely bath until they smell yummy :) Also books are great presents you can keep forever.

Becca will be 1 on April 27th. We got her a baby doll and a stroller, wooden puzzle, books and new clothes for spring/summer. We're having a small princess party for her.

My daughter will be 1 on April 4th. We got her the shake and giggle elmo chair, some bath toys, stacking blocks, stacking cups and clothes. She loves those little stacking cups. We got her a little four wheeler for Christmas and she is just now starting to get on it and ride like Evil (the stunt man). I hope that helped give some ideas. :)

I'm also getting my daughter a new carseat. Or rather, I'm asking the grandparents for one :) She still fits in the infant seat ok (only 19 lbs) but I thought it would be good to have it on hand for when she's ready to move up. The backyard kiddie pool also sounds like a good idea, so I might pick one up. Other than that, I figure she will get stuff from guests. We're doing a casual pot luck at the park birthday party (April 25th). My daughter loves crawling in the grass. We don't have to decorate. And a pot luck means I dont have to provide a whole bunch of food. I'm making her a fruit juice sweetened carrot cake. And then a regular cake for the guests.

itz my daughters birthday on the 4th, i just got her a Dora chair of her own for the lounge room, my nanna and great grandmother got her her very first toddler bed, my mum got her a bike, i got her a swing set that came with a slide and a ball pit for christmas last year but its been at my fathers so im going to re-inroduce that, im also getting her a quilt set for her bed and a new set of swimmers as we are going to the beach for her birthday... they will love anything they are more concerned about the wrapping paper :)

my gift to my duaghter (april 2nd also) is a new big girl car seat and a little chair for her to sit in so she can join us in the living room, and not just sit on the floor. The rest, I am just relying on my friends to get her!

Lenix loves to push around cars, we got 2 chuncky ones a couple of months ago so we are finishing out that set. He loves musical things so my sister is getting him a baby keyboard. We encourage music in our house so despite the possible headache he will probably get alot of musical instruments. I am doing the same request as my baby shower though, NO CLOTHES! He is just at that stage where 18 month pants are too small and 24 month are just a little too long but we have tons (mainly because mommy loves sales and clearance!)

My son will be one on April 19th & I'm not getting him any toys. His sister is only 17 months older than him & they have tons of gender-neutral toys that they share. Besides, I'm sure he will get plenty of new toys at his birthday party. Instead, for his first birthday, I'm doing what I did for his sister's first: I'm finishing a cedar chest to be used as a toy box. I picked it up at JoAnn's & it's the perfect size for a toy box & with it being solid cedar, it's sturdy & will last through adulthood to keep their treasures in or blankets once they have their own home. Finishing furniture is MUCH easier than most people think. I finished his sister's in cherry to match her furniture & I'll be finishing his in espresso to match his furniture. It took about 3 days to finish my daughters, about an hour at a time, with a day between each step to let it dry. :-) Good luck finding the perfect gift for your little one!

my daughter will be 1 on the 15th of april. i too had a hard time thinking what i could get her seeing as she has an older sister, that she has inheirited everything from, When i started planning for her birthday she wasnt walking so was going to get one of those walker thingees to but to my surprise she started walking 3 weeks ago!! So i have got her a special birthday outfit, lots of books(im book crazy) a doll that has things that can help them with dressing like little zipz and snap buttons and so on and the thing that she will love the most is Dusty the talking vaccum cleaner seeing as she has a massive fascination with my vaccum cleaner and likes to turn it off and on all the time now she can have her own and think that she is helping with the vaccumming!!. Good luck with what you pick, no matter what they will still love what you get them

My husband and I got our daughter a wagon for her April 5th Birthday. Granted, it says that it's for 1 1/2 year olds and up -- but, it's got seat belts and I figure it's safe enough for a little walk around the neighborhood. One set of her grandparents have gotten her one of those walkers/ride-on things and the other set is getting her a swing for the yard. I am also considering getting her a kiddie pool for the backyard (Target has some for $4) and that will bring us lots of fun throughout the summer! I am trying to think of things that will encourage us to be outside (since we've been stuck indoors all winter!). Having a Spring baby means that we can enjoy the toys all summer long! :)
Easy to hold crayons sound interesting -- where did you find those?

my daughter will be a year on the 23rd and I got her things that we can do together like a big Crayola coloring book and easy to hold crayons. I also got her some Disney movies because I think that all kids should have some Classic movies! :) That was basically it, i'm leaving the big things up to the grandparents! :) :) They dont mind!

I am going to give my daughter a set of graduated stacking rings, a pull duck toy and some outdoor play equipment with a slide and a swing. She loves playing outside and I think she will enjoy having something to play on during the summer.

personal choice but im not having a typical birthday party or gifts for my one year old like you said any gift she gets she will be more interested in the packaging than the gift and im sure she has enough little toys already also being parents is expensive enough and a party before three is catered more to the invitees than the party girl who will prob end up being overwhelmed from all the activity, nervous about the new or not often seen people and because they get shots at that age they may still be cranky or feverish from that. Yay lets have a party lol! I feel the best "party" for a baby would be catered to them after all its there day so direct attention all day family/friends they are use to every day and a lenient routine or "to do" that allows for napping and not having to be "on" as the birthday girl. For ex: my baby is turning 1 on the 22 and my older son is turning 14 on the 21 both in april for their birthday im taking them to COSI its a hands on science museum in OHIO catered to people 6 months to 90. no stuctured tour see what exhibit you want when you want as long as you want and its all hands on so they can touch EVERYTHING! i felt this was a good birthday thing because its not something you do everyday so it qualifies for b-day special and its at your own pace so good for young kids. in california they have the LEGO museum wish i was close to there that would be a good one too

My daughter is turning one on April 9th. She is trying to walk and is pushing everything around in order to walk. So, I got her an Explore and Grow, Step Start Walk and Ride by Playskool. It is a walker and then when she has mastered walking it turns into a little vehicle to scoot and ride on. It was hard to decide what to give her but I like my choice because it will last her until she is 46 pounds, so quite a while.
