Hi ladies, I'm a firt time mum to a little boy, my Beautiful Liam. He is generally a very happy baby and extemely good. When I first brought him home, we notice that he did what we call a wee wee cry, that is every time he has a wee he would give a little cry. Both hubby and I instantly assumed that he just didn't like to be wet and diddnt like the feeling of his nappy filling up, and so were not unduely concerned when this continued. In the last week however his "wee wee" cry were becoming more frantic and he was getting himself into quite a state which concerned me lest it be a bladder infection or something, so I took him to the doc yesterday. It Turns out that his foreskin is a little tight and we have to stretch it (not an easy task on such a tiny little willy LOL!). He also has a slight infection so is on antibiotics and a cream to treat this. It's all a little worrying to me though as I'm ment to do the "stretch" thing twice per day but not really sure how much I sholud be doing it! I doesn'tseem to cause him any discomfort when I do it but I dont want to hurt my bubs! Anyone else had this prob and got any advice or ideas for me?

Both of my sons Colin and Liam are not circumsized. With Colin (he's 9 now), he never had any issues. With Liam (born in April this year), he has had a little issues with the foreskin being slightly tight but once a day or so I pull it back and it's not been a problem. His is pretty far detached, unlike my other son where it took years. But it was Liam's doing that caused it to retract sooner than normal. Belly time...he would kick his legs shifting himself and I guess at one point during the night when he shifted...he did so forcibly and it caused the detachment a good measure. Because when I changed him there was raw skin and fresh blood. I just kept it lubed up in A&D ointment so that it wouldn't scar and reattach (it can reattach with scarring which he would then be forced to be circumsized). In a few days it all healed and it's normal looking. Just now the skin starts to get slightly tight but every couple diaper changes we just pull it back and there's no problem....it stretches normally.

I believe in pulling the foreskin back with at least every bowel movement to make sure feces isn't up under the skin (if the skin is retractable...if not then don't). If at that point you see redness...I recommend lubing it with a A&D type ointment which will help heal the raw skin but also prevent the raw skin from healing and reattaching with scarring to the head of the penis. Things like Desitin and Balmex diaper creams do not seem to work as well on a issue as such for me.

Good luck and I hope your son doesn't have any more issues!

My son's foreskin was half intact and half not. I'll never forget when I took him to the doctor and told him of my concerns what the doc said to me. He was completely shocked and said, oh I didn't think he was circumcised! I was livid... I told him that he had a circumcision a day after birth. Anyhow, I was instructed to do the same thing. While in the bathtub, pull the foreskin back and forth. It took a LONG time since he had half his penis to be pulled back but by 10 or so everything is perfect. Once little boys start waking up with a kind of erection when they are about 5 (yes that early! It has to do with having to use the bathroom not any arousal yet). Today my son is 12, says that he looks and feels normal (I take his word for it since he's a bit too old for me to look, lol). I was offered for the doc to do pretty much redo the circumcision but took the chance that over time and dedication on my part, he would be fine. Good luck and don't worry to much :)

Thanks Jayne, have been doing the stretching thing as driected by doc and it looked very sore feo a few days but now I thinkk that was due to the slight infection he had. Looking much healthier now and the antibiotics and cream seem to be doing the job so hoefully with a little persistance it should sort it's self out without the op! Fingers crossed ne way! I have also noticed that his "weewee" cry seems to have disapeared in the last day or so so looking good ;) xx

Hi, Im a first time mum to a boy too, Toby. Although his forskin is fine,my friends little boy who is now 12yrs old had the same problem, she had to pull his forskin back to help stretch it, in doing so it is supposed to loosen it so as the child grows it shouldnt cause any problems. When my friends boy got a little older and was having a wee on the toilet, you had to push his willy down or the whole bathroom got sprinkled, this was due to the forskin still being a little tight. in the end he had an operation to cure it and he has been fine ever since,. Try not to worry about it too much, one way or the other you can get it sorted.
