hi my son is 10 1/2 months and he doesnt play peek a boo on his own, he responds and laughs when I do it but there are some kids his age who are hiding and popping out on their own, Owen waits for me to do it. Also clapping...we practice and while im clapping he reaches for my hands whcih i guess is good and he flattens his hands instead of balling them up when i clap his own hands. but he will not clap on his own. And waving- he just doesnt do it.

He is a great crawler, says mama and dada randomly and cruises (sometimes) he babbles constantly and is a good eater.

i guess i should mention that the entire month of February he was very ill will croup and ear infections.

any suggestions/ recommendations?

My daughter wasn't clapping by herself either but she was on track with other milestones like pulling her self up and crawling and such, but in the last month and a half she had a bunch of milestones, she learned to clap by herself when I ask her too, as well put her arms up when asked, and show me where mommy's mouth, nose, eyes and ears are. She now likes to show-off and stand up and start clapping. So you shouldn't worry I'm sure your little one will pick it up fast on his own time, and I agree with Danielle, I bet they know how to do it, they just don't. Keyaira does a lot of things once but I can't ever get her to do it again for a long time, babies are sometimes stubborn. Haha

My son is 11 months old tomorrow, he doesn't clap, he doesn't wave, he doesn't blow kisses or give kisses or hugs, he's just pulling himself into standing positions on furniture. He crawls like a champ and responds to his name. He also says dada and mama. I keep trying to teach him things but it'll come in time. There's really no rush. I bet they know how to do it they just DON'T. Haha.

I'm sorry to hear that Paige. She will catch up in no time. As for Melissa, I wouldn't worry a bit. My son is 11 months old and he just started clapping because my mom taught him patty cake. Now he clap's all the time. Although he doesn't clap along side of anyone else. He does wave but only to certain people. They all learn at different stages. If you child isn't doing this stuff by the age of 15 month to two years then I would start worrying but until then I think it's fine. My son isn't walking on his own. He does walk along furniture and is speedy gonzales when it comes to crawling and annoying his older brother. But I know that he will be walking soon. I predict that he will be walking by his birthday. I was right when it came to crawling. I predicted by christmas and he started crawling christmas eve.

She is really behind on her gross motor skills. She is only just sitting but she still falls over backwards most of the time. She was hospitalised at birht to 2 months due to an undiagnosed metabolic disorder so we know why she is behind in motor skills. SHe is catching up fast though and has just started with peekaboo in the last couple of days. She has a physio coming also to help with these skills. I would love to have her crawling and cruising but at the same time I am just glad she is here even if she is a lump on the floor still.

Paige, what milestone has your daughter reached? I don't mean to pry but I got worried when you said she isn't sitting crawling cruiseing or anything. Please don't be offended. I just don't want to worry for her.

Tyler was born april 22nd, but was a preemie (5 weeks early).... he just started clapping his hands within the past few weeks... and just the other night he put the towel over his head to play peek-a-boo. As long as you keep interacting with your child, they will start to develop some of these things.

My daughter was born April 23rd as well and isn't clapping or waving or anything. She isn't crawling or cruising or pulling herself up on anything. She really barely sits on her own. They will catch up and do it at there own pace.

every child is different and he will develop at his own pace. I would not worry about these things and he will be playing pat-i-cake before you know it!
