i am wondering what all of you mums think . I am wondering if it would be ok to just get a toddler bed because jaelyn has been climbing out of her crib. I think i would feel more comfortable with her falling out of a toddler bed instead of a crib *it is a long fall!

We are going to switch our little one once we move into our new house at the end of May...I did the same with my son just made sure there were pillows to land on if he decided to get off it wrong also make sure the one you use has bedrails.

My oldest would nurse to sleep and then as soon as I would lay him down he would wake up. I co-slept forever but started to get uncomfortable so we put his mattress on the floor at 11 months. That way I could lay with him until he fell asleep and then sneak out. After his first birthday we went to the toddler bed with the railing but it didn't work for him either because he still wanted us to cuddle with him in order for him to fall asleep. We then moved to a queen mattress on the floor at 15 months because trying to lay with him in a toddler bed was impossible. =) Where he still is now at 3.
I think you do what is best for you and your sanity.

my first son climbed out early as well. I put the crib mattress on the floor and put a safety gate up at his door. I made sure his room was safe and left him that way.

I use a play yard for now.. they say once your child starts climing out of the crib to get them a toddler bed,but the thing is my daughters started doing that when they were about one and half and they were steady walkers, they also could clime down and wouldnt fall.. I didnt mind putting them in a toddler bed at that age, their bed time routines were good and their communication at that age was better so I could tell them they need to stay in their beds and they could grasp it ... my son is only 9 mos and has started climing out.. the problem being he is furniture cruising.. hasnt even started walking on his own yet and comes crashing down everytime he does it, so I understand your concern... but because of the fact he still wakes up at night sometimes and doesnt understand he must stay in his bed.. we used the play yard.. the sides are high so he cant clime out of it...its not as comfy as his crib mattress I can imagine but he doesnt seem to mind at all..

We are using a pack n play / play yard... he can't climb out of it . We are thinking about the 15 to 18 months to start the toddler bed.

my baby is in a toddler bed, but she's not crawling or anything yet she mostly just stays put..

oh no that does sound like a bit of a nightmare, i personally wouldnt feel comfortable with my little in a tod bed this early. can you not lower down the cot or anyone you know have a different type of cot that can be lowered?? good luck :)
