The brand I use is Munchkin, with silicone spout. I've only had problems with leaking when the spout isn't in the lid right, which can happen when it's washed. The spout is similar enough to a bottle, my daughter took to it right away.

I spoke with a baby nutritionist and she said sippies are just glorified bottles. Reality she is correct. "they" say and i do read alot that at about 10 months, babies can start with a regular small plastic cup. messy YES! worth it, definitely! exception of traveling. my daughter used a reg cup at 10 months, my son, however has been using a sippie since 9 months. and does great with them. i use nuk, which is almost identical to a bottle and is a great "starter" sippie if thats what u are looking for, until they learn to suck and get it down id say switch to a non bottle like one to help break from the bottle. good luck =)

Every single brand I've bought so far leaks, would love to find a brand that will not soak his shirt everytime I try to give it to him...

Angeline i have a Nuby sippy cup it has a silicone teat (which are soft) but it a different shape teat to a bottle. I found this fantastic when changing one of Emily's bottle feeds to a cup. I also found the short cups are better cause they are easier to tip up and the water goes to the teat.. where as when i bought a tall cup my Daughter couldnt/didnt know to tip it up so much more to get the water or milk out... Hope this helps?

my son will only drink from the "take and toss" ones as well, like angela mentioned. anything soft he just chews on.

I used a Nuby with my son and I hated them. He used to chew on them, and then started using me as a chew toy when he didn't have the cup. Plus they are expensive. I buy the Take-n-Toss cups from Target because they are cheap and I don't feel guilty about throwing them away/losing them. They are only $3 for a pack of 4.

We use the playtex ones. They are 100% leak proof. Logan didn't really get it at first, he thought it was a chew toy. I filled it to the top with 1/4 apple juice the rest water, I put him in his chair and took the first sip out of it. He thought I was hilarious but from that point on he started using it-the right way. I still fill it to the top because he doesn't always understand the concept of tilting his head. This helps. I recently bought the graduate sippy cups, b/c I had a coupn, not my favorite. If you don't get it SUPER TIGHT it leaks every where. I thought it was tight enough the first few times but then my aunt showed me I had to twist it til I thought it'd break. Won't be buying those anymore, he does pretty well with them though.

We just started the sippy cup thing about 2 weeks ago. I bought a Nuby one as well but he hasn't gotten the hang of it yet. I try to let him 'practice' in the evenings when I'm home. He usually sucks on it for a minute then tosses it out of sight. LOL. I just keep giving it to him. I'm sure out of the blue he'll get it. =)

Does not matter the brand as long as they are silicone. They also make some that are shaped more like a nipple. Had to use those for one of my boys.

my daughter is exclusively breast fed but she will take a bottle if we have to go somewhere and i pump milk for her but we use nuby as well...she likes the bright colors but does not yet quite understand that she must tilt her head back when she drinks to get the liquid but she likes them, i might try getting her the sippys with a straw and see if she likes it.

I went and bought some Nuby's. They come in different colors and come with three different tops with different shapes. They are silicone and my daughter loves them. I started with just watered down juice and that's what we are still working on. Once a day i will try that and add from there.
