My daughter is doing everything BUT walking at the moment. She crawls, she cruises A LOT, she has just started climbing up on the furniture by herself, she stands unassisted in place, she dances to music while standing in place or holding onto an item or furniture but she just hasn't taken an unassisted step yet.

It really depends on the child. My 1 year old started walking the day he turned 10 months. My 5 and 3 year olds were walking at 9 months. But my best friends kids didn't start until arould 13 or 14 months. I wouldn't worry about it too much and just let her kind of go at her own pace.

@Shannon, my second daughter will be a yr on 4/30 also! So cool! @Trisha, there's nothing wrong with your baby. Mine does the same thing yours does, and she's perfectly healthy and normal. My first daughter, who's now 9, started walking well at 11mo, so my family members wonder when the second one will start walking by herself. They're just being anxious, but I know that each baby is different. My baby started pulling up to stand and cruising at 7 months! But she just wants to perfect her style of walking, that's all... LOL!

It varies from baby to baby. 11 months is nothing to worry about if she isn't walking yet. Most (average) don't start until about 12mo. My oldest started at 7mo, my middle child started the day after her 1st birthday, and my son (who will be a yr on 4/30), started taking steps at 6mo, but just recently started walking everywhere. So, it truly does vary. If she's pulling herself up, she will be walking soon!! Good luck and enjoy her while she's little!!!

My baby is 11 1/2 months and she's still scared to let go but she does take like one or two step now then falls. Pretty soon she'll be off on her own. She gets down off the couch and bed byherself now also. Basically..it all depends.

Every child is different. My first took his first steps on his first birthday, my older daughter was 10 months and my youngest was 8½ months when she started. She will take those unforgettable first steps when she is good and ready :)

My son has just started walking and he is 2 weeks shy of his 1st birthday. He started by pulling himself up on things then walked by holding on. He then started to stand himself up in the middle of the room and shortly after that he took his first step.
My son will be 1 on the 14th of April. He's been cruising the furniture since 8 months old, but he still isn't walking. He's just started experimenting with letting go of the furniture and standing still. Babies will do it when they're ready! In a way, I'm ready for him to start walking (I'm 6 months pregnant and it's getting hard for me to carry him around) but at the same time, I don't want him to bc he's my baby!

My son started walking at 15 months, my first dd started walking the month of her first birthday. Second dd is 11 mo and is able to 'cruise' around the furniture while holding on. I'm thinking she'll be walking by her first birthday.

My little girl has been walking around the furniture for a few weeks, then holding our hand (just one) and walking around everywhere for about 2 weeks and then today, had her first 4 steps on her own, whilst my three 1/2 year old and I were dancing with her. I was blown away watching - so cool - and then she did another fours steps shortly after and then a few more later in the night. Now doesn't want to stop walking, either holding our hand or on her own. Very cute.

my daughter is about to be 12 months and she wont even stand on her own. she can pull up to standing and cruise, and likes to walk while holding on to your fingers, but no matter what she wont even try to stand by herself. shes done it a couple of times so i know she can. shes just being lazy and procrastinating. just like her mommy ^_

My daughter is 11 1/2 months and as been walking for about 2 months now, now that your little one is pulling herself up and standing it won't be long before she starts to walk around the furniture, we have one of those walker toys that makes music when it moves and she used that quite a bit when she first started toddling

my daughter walks only holding one of my hands yesterday we were jaming out to blackout(britney spears) and she wsa dancing like crazy and took one step forward all on her own. than she sat down... she stands on her own and now she canstand up all by herself without holding onto anything. we even started the potty training and she will stand up when sitting on her potty all by herself.. i really hope walking is soon. I know that means more work for me but im just not ok with her always touching the floor. Not to mention i would love to be able to take her outside without being restricted to the stroller.

My son is very close to taking his first steps. He'll be 1 on April 8th. He pulls up and will walk around the coffee table holding on, and he's tried so hard to walk to me. He'll let go one hand, then sometimes he'll be playing with a toy and I'll realize he's standing on his own, just playing with that toy. He hasn't figured out quite yet that he needs to move his feet. Lol He'll try and leap at me from where he's standing!! His walker is the best thing for him and it's made him strong. He still doesn't know how to crawl. He hates being on his tummy. I guess I should enjoy it now while he can't walk. He's a speed demon in his walker...I can only imagine when his little fat feet hit the ground running!

My baby has been doing the same as yours - and actually took his first step (one step) last night. He hasn't done it again but I'm expecting it soon. As far as when babies walk I've worked in daycare with kids who walked at 8 or 9 months and some that didn't even try till 14 or 15 months. The docs don't worry until 14 months and then all they do is check the hips and legs to make sure there is no physical problem.

Walking we all want our kids to walk and go through the mile stones, I have four children three of them started around 11 months and my youngest started at 9 months, only because she was encorouged by older siblings. I have noticed a bow in her legs and drs have said she has started walking to early for the weight to be carried on her little legs so I suggest that you let her do it in her own time, she will walk in time.Doing a great job mum.

Every child is different, some walk at 11 months and some won't walk until close to there birthday or even after. It really depends on the child.. My baby ( Hannah) is doing the same things as your child but I think she will walk around her birthday April 20. Hope this help....

Every baby is different. I know babies that have started walking as early at 8 months, while mine my oldest son did not walk until about 13 months. Continue encouraging her when he's pulling up. Perhaps a walk along toy if you do not already have one. She will get there!

it varies so much from baby to baby. Mine was walking 2 weeks into the 9th month but she is freakishly strong..lol, but my friends baby didn't walk until 13 months...she didn't crawl either she went straight to walking. Usually around 12 months is when they start walking. If yours is pulling up she will be walking pretty soon :)
