For Christmas, I got Landon this table: Leapfrog Learn & Groove Musical Table

http://www.leapfrog.com/en/learn_and_gro...

It says that it is appropriate for ages 6 months to 3 years. However the table is very dangerous! Landon likes to play with things on the table and turns the whole table over. The other day he had turned it completely over and was walking up to the table when he tripped. He fell right into the table leg which is shaped in a U shape. He couldn't move and it was choking him. His arms were unable to push himself off the leg and he was trying to push to stand but he was making it worse.

Luckily I was only a few feet away. I was in shock to see it! I took off the legs to the table and contacted Leapfrog. They have not gotten back to me after two weeks.

My son, also named Landon, loves this toy. But I will definitely keep in mind what you said because he too flips it over from time to time.

Not sure how old your baby was when you put all the legs on it, but the legs are designed to be put on/off so that as a younger infant, they can just play with it on the ground. Then add two legs only so it's on an angle that sitters can play with it, then once your baby can stand on their own, all four go on and it's a full activity table. Our daughter loved this toy from age 5 months to now...we even got a second table with other features on it because of how much she enjoyed it. She's been walking now for nearly 3 months and will often push the table around the room more than play with the stuff on it because she's so mobile and can go anywhere.
I agree with Nadine -- I really don't feel there's any defect with the toy. I can understand how upsetting it was to see your child in danger with how he fell, but I really feel in this case, it was a rare circumstance and perhaps you should supervise a bit more closely with any toy your child plays with.
Leap Frog toys are really great for helping teach useful things while still being fun for kids - I hope you don't give up on the manufacturer as a whole.

Right now it's at Katie's grandparents' house without the legs. The legs will probably be on it very soon. I'll tell her to keep an eye on Katie and it when she's playing with the table.

I also have this table for my daughter. It was given to us as a gift. She and all her friends that come over love it. The push is around the room and she acutually tipped it doing so one do but just stopped and pulled it back up right and went on like she did it on purpose. Not that I dont think that what happen was scary for both of you but was it really a defect to the toy. Your son flipped it over and then tripped while walking and just happen to fall on it in a way that could have hurt him if you hadnt been there. Dont get me wrong I would have freaked too but this really wasnt an issue due to a danger with the toy its self. Hopefully your son can continue to enjoy it under your supvision and all the others that havent had any problems continue to enjoy this toy is awesome.

My son has the same table, and has been playing with it for months with no problems. Yeah, he can flip it, but we just flip it right back over and tell him no. As Melanie said, every toy can be dangerous, which is why supervision is required. Maybe just let him play with the table while you're sitting with him, or take the legs off if you have to do something across the room. Must have been scary when it happened though.

i have the same toy and have had it for over 5 years now with both my daughters. neither of them have had any problems with it and it is actually one of their favorite toys. we have always had the legs removed as it says on the packaging for when they are very young but have added them back on when we have felt they are ready for it. i totally understand why you are upset and that it would of been frightening for you and your baby but like melanie said every toy has dangerous aspects.
also be careful of what you say and where as leap frog may consider this slanderous and take action against you, you just never know with companies these days.

I also have it for my children, and nothing ever happened. I think every toy has a dangerous aspect that people might not notice until it happen, that is why they always put a note n the box that says 'DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILDREN UNATTENDED' that is how the company covers itself. But i'am curious what leapfrog will tell you if they ever reply. will let us know?
