my midwife recently told me that my baby is really big and im possibly looking at a 10lb + baby if i go to 40 weeks (36 1/2 now). my first baby was 7lbs when she was born and i tore a bit then... so how the hell am i gunna manage this time??

what if i go all the way thru the 1st stage of labour and then when it comes to push he wont come out coz he too big so it goes to an emergency c-section... all those contractions for nothing.

or worse... what if he gets stuck half way out!!!

rite! im scaring myself now! i want him out now! before he gets any bigger! lol

help calm me down! please! xxxx

Tearing won't keep you from delivering vaginally. Only a too small pelvis will. This happened to my friend last month, except her son was only 7 1/2 lbs. She went through hours of labor and after 3 attempts at suction they did a c-section. Turns out her pelvis was just too small and he was wedged in it. They had to pull him out to deliver him. But all in all she said it wasn't horrible. It was childbirth and you can't expect a walk in the park. Good luck!

Have you thought about a water birth? If its available in your area, I'd recommend looking into it.  It seems that everything stretches more and is easier.  Of course, I'll find that out for myself in the coming weeks, but its an option to consider, since you are worried.  Also, they can do a quick ultrasound to measure the baby and you and make a decision ahead of time for a C-Section if he is too big.

Its been my experience that discussing all your concerns with your mid-wife/doctor is extremely helpful.  They are then aware of everything before you go into labour, and can help make decisions or give you information to help ease the concerns.  I have other health issues that make a vaginal birth possibly fatal for my baby girl, but my mid-wife and I just talk about all the options and concerns, and I'm not stressin (yet!).

lol, I'm sure your midwife has delivered big babies before if it gets stuck half way out they will either use the vontuse thing which is like a suction cap on its head to help pull while you push of there is forceps or they can do a little cut to make the birthing canal bigger so it wont be stuck for long.

With my 2nd they were full of similar predictions about his size they thought he was going to be 11lbs if I went to 40 weeks but I went into labour at 38 weeks and they were still telling me he was going to be nearly 10lbs but he was only 7lbs 7oz.

It's a good thing you tore the first time because it makes you stretchier the 2nd time.  I found my second labour so much easier than the first and faster, I also recovered really quickly.  Most people I speak to say the 2nd one is so much easier so don't worry.  Just remember they are only guessing with the weight they really don't know :)
