When at the doctor a week ago i asked the same question. My son is almost 7 months and the doctor said he is gaining weight just fine, and he is getting the right amount of vitamins from his baby food to wait until he is 1 year old and then give it to him.

Oh, and after a certain point i think it gets to the point where you don't need to do 1 ounce per month old, because they'd be drinking a lot of juice. In general though, I think 6 months is when most babys start. They use being able to sit up unsupported as the milestone to start it.

My doctor told me to start giving my son juice at 3 months old. His formula was making him constipated, so they said to give him apple or pear juice, and that he can have one ounce for each month that he is old. He's 6 months now, so he can have 6 ounces of juice a day. I split it up half in the morning and half in the evening. I give him the Gerber baby juice.

My son turned 6 months on monday, he went to the dr tuesday. He told me give Kane lil juice with half water, once a day. Kane drinks 6oz of formula, he told me to give him 4 oz of juice ( 2oz juice 2 oz water) just to give him a taste for something other than the formula. I buy my gerber juice so its not loaded with sugars and other bad things.

i was told to dilute the juice. 1/2 water - 1/2 juice. and the dr also suggested giving it to your baby in a sippy cup. it tells them good things come with the sippy cup.

I've been giving my baby juice since about 5 months old, I cut it with water though, say one ounce juice and 3 ounces water, it should just turn the water color and give a little taste. Like Stacy said below me, it's all the sugar they don't need, but if you cut it with water it should be ok. Just remember one part juice to 3 parts water. Now my baby is 6 months old and the doc said he can start having little table scraps, like mashed potatoes or mac and cheese, etc. I give apple juice in the morning, so the bowels can have all day to do their thing.

You can buy baby juice for 6mths and up. A bit of juice is good for them as it gives them VitC.
