Happy bday little man!< Anytime around the age of 1year is best time make the transition. My son turned 1 on April 1st and we gradually changed from his regular formula to the next step formula and then over to Vit D whole milk..now that is all we give him. even started to use it in his oatmeal during the change over..but when you feel its best for your baby then make the change when you are comfortable, my husband loves that we now also dont spend 25-30$ a week on formula either.. (plus my sis n law is a peds dr. which helped me know i was making a good choice)

Um my daughter was a year on April 6 and she hasnt had formula since she was bout 9 or 10 months. She wanted real food. Her doctor said that if she is eatin good that it was fine. She quit takin her bottle at 6 months also. Her pediatrician says that I got lucky but my 2 older kids were the same. She really dont like milk but I make her take at least 2 sip-pies full

My little boy turns 1 on the 25th and self weaned at 10.5 months, we went straight to cows milk from a sippy cup, however he was very windy and upset - we moved to the soy milk (iron enriched version) and haven't looked back, he loves it and has continued to put on good weight. Go with your instincts I say, if you feel your bub is coping with the second stage formula stick to that and maybe try cows/soy milk for just one feed and see how he reacts. Good luck!

Lilli turns 1 on the 23rd and I have already started, slowly, giving her milk. She'll have a bottle of Milk about every other day. Tonight, I wanted to try something and see how she liked it. She has ALOT of baby food left and wants to eat table food. I mixed one jar of bananas with about 5-6 oz of Milk in a sippy. She LOVED her banana 'smoothie'! It was gone in about a minute and a half!!

my little boy turns a year on monday and hes been off formula and drinking d milk for about a week or two the only thing i ran into was that he started throwing up some but i mixed in about half water for awhile so his stomach could adjust to the change and hes doing fine.

my first daughter i kept on formular until she was 3, this baby how ever is one now and just started having some small amounts of cows milk and is doing fine on it. i will stay with formular for alot longer still but will include cows milk into everyday eating. formualr to me is great for the development but t also hindered my eldest daughter from wanting to eat full meals because she loved her bottle so much, where as with the cows milk my kids seem to just sip it instead of guzzling it down like formular.

Hi Amanda, my son turned 1 the 2nd and I started trying with normal milk since about a month and a half ago, but I noticed that if I give him lactose products more than once in a row, he gets little red dots on his face, so the doctor told me to go slower than normal. In Sweden they drink a "formula" (dont really know how to translate it) made of corn and oat meal, he still drinks that in his bottle 2 times a day.
But I think that if your baby doesn´t have any problems, it´s time now for trying "normal" milk.

Do NOT put your baby forward until you have confirmed his weight is correct! In fact even when my daughter hits 20 lbs I was told you should keep them rear facing up to the max weight of your carseat because it is safer. My daughter was 1 yr old yesterday and I have given her D milk now and I will not be buying anymore formula

My daughter doesn't turn 1 until the 30th and this week I have started doing 50-50 with the stage 2 formula and vitamin D milk.. She is taking to it very good but I also give her baby vitamin drops to make sure that she isn't missing out on any of the stuff she needs on the days she doesn't drink as much as she used to...

Yes, the best way and highly recommended way to take your son off formula and switch to milk is by adding an ounce of milk to his formula and subtracting an ounce and every couple days add another ounce of milk and subtract an ounce of formula and keep doing that until it's just milk. I let my son have a bottle of milk in the morning and at night to ween him off the bottle then started putting the milk in a sippy only.

If he does have a problem with cows milk you can always give him soy milk. My son who is now 3 didn't like cows milk though he eats cheese and yogurt like there is no tomorrow. He loves soy milk and the vanilla flavor stuff I can mix with cows milk and he doesn't know he is drinking cows milk.
You can also try getting fresh milk from a farmer friend. The U.S.'s pasteurization process kills all of the good stuff in milk (which I think is why so many people have a problem with it). My brothers and sister along with myself were raised on milk right from the bulk tank and none of us have any milk tolerance issues.

My daughter started on cows milk about a week ago. She'll be 1 on April 22nd. And she's doing fine with it. We did Enfagrow (10 mo. to 36 mo.) for about 2 months before I switched her.

Hi Amanda! My son is turning one on the 22nd of this month, and my husband and I took him off formula about six weeks ago. Reuben's pediatrician told us back when he was about seven months old that it was fine in the weeks leading up to his first birthday that we could switch to whole milk, and he took to it right away. We also have him on stage 2/stage 3 baby food. He also loves dry cereal for a snack--cheerios and gerber puffs. Hope that helps!

Hi Amanda you have two choices you can switch to the stage 2 formula's and continue with that until 18 months or you can switch to whole milk now. If you switch to milk cut it 50/50 with warm water

My son turns 1 on the 22nd and is taking 1/2 cows milk (with his cereal & 2:30 bottle) and formula as his 1st & last bottle. I am switching a bottle a week to whole milk.He didn't even notice the difference. hope that helps.

My Son is drinking 50-50 as well. He's not eating as well as he should be. Asked the Dr. and he said he'll eat Solids at a regular rate when he's ready. Till then he's on a second stage formula(6months-18months).

My little man turned one last week and I started him after one year on a blend of cows milk and formula (50:50) and cows milk on his cereal, each week I will blend more cows milk into his formula until it is just cows milk. I did buy an extra container of formula though as I imagine that formula has more vitamins in it than cows milk so I guess is more beneficial?

We started whole milk on her birthday and she made the transition easily. Now attempting the move from bottles!

My son will be 1 next week and he's been off of formula for over a month now. He no longer takes bottles. He uses sippy cups and drinks regular milk and eats whatever we eat. The transition is really only as hard as you make it or allow it to be. Make the change and stick to your guns!

Ive already started given my daughter cows milk(a week ago) and she is not 1 till the 21st. They say 1 years old because formula has all the iron they need, but Imogen has been fine on cow milk.

Hi Amanda my lil boy turned one on 4th April. I have been slowly getting him used to cows milk for a while now. I started giving it to him on his cereal and when i was sure he was ok with that i started one bottle of cows milk a day. Today was our first day of no formula. So far so good. It is defiantely up to bub though. My lil boy is farely accomodating and will pretty much eat anything. Just start slowly and give him a little bit for a week or so to see if he has any allergies or anything and then you can up the anti. Give him one bottle then slowly increase.

Hi Amanda, my 3rd child Keira was born on the 7th April also. I actually took her off formula at 10 months and gave her half and half of water and cows milk (120ml water, 120 ml cows milk). I've done this to all my children and never had an reactions or intolerances. I guess it's up to you, if you don't have any family history of cows milk intolerance then you should be fine, but as previous replies state, there are next stage follow on formulas you can use if you feel a little unsure. hopes this helps.

I am feeding my munchkin 'next stage' formula right now, and he just celebrated his first birthday on Saturday. He is still using a bottle and waking up during the night a few times. With my older son, he was on a sippy cup by this age and he easily went to whole milk at 1yr.

Personally, I would give him next stage formula since it has more nutrition than whole milk, thats me and thats what I'm currently doing. Hope that helps.
