I'm losing massive amounts of hair also. Thankfully mine is thick. But I knew this was normal. After my son I shed normally after a few weeks of major shedding. After my daughter...there was no returning to normal. She's now 5 and once she was born...I started shedding shortly after and it did not stop until I got pregnant with my youngest son. And I mean shedding horribly. I shed worse than a dog. Hair is found everywhere!!! I actually had bald spots where a man would have normal receeding hair line but it grew back in. After Liam's birth, it almost went bald but not completely. I don't see it getting any better since it didn't after my daughter.

Skin wise...I have rosacea. So it's hit or miss. One pregnancy I have great skin, one time it's a mess. My cycle can screw it up from the hormones...stress, heat, humidity, etc....so who knows!

hi there just wantin 2 say tha i am happy that im not the only 1 loosing my hair im a hairdresser and its my worst nightmare but during my study we learnt that it is a actual form of alopecia caused from the hormones,so even tho its normal i stil feel odd and glad others are having the same problem!!

Ugh! My skin is HORRIBLE! It's always been a little, but now I'm so embarrassed by it! The birth control pill I'm on is supposed to help but it's totally not! I wish I had a solution. And I was losing a ton of hair but I got it cut last week and it's been so much better (I cut 3-4 inches off). It really sucks we have to go through all this! (but totally worth it!)

Me!!! I pull out so much hair in the shower and when I'm blow drying it, it's crazy! My skin is also suffering. I just started a prescription today to help clear it up.

I know what you mean! I don't remember losing too much hair after I had my first, but this time around I'm shedding like crazy! After my first, my face started breaking out very badly about 2 months after I stopped breastfeeding. I'm still breastfeeding this time around and I'm on BC now, too. Hopefully that will keep me from breaking out too bad once I ween.

My daughter is almost 5 months old and my hair is coming out like crazy as well as my skin is ridiculous. I have had acne during my whole pregnancy and has continued. I'm waiting to stop breastfeeding so I can go to the dermatologist. I have tried everything and nothing works, I think the hormones are preventing it from getting much better.

My hair is shedding big time...it's everywhere! The amount of hair left in the shower is very scary...I swear I can make a wig for my son out of it every day :( Good news is it is normal...boy do I miss my pregnancy hair ;)

Definately! It is horrible losing all that hair and getting spots after having such clear skin and beautiful thick hair. My hair is STILL falling out in clumps, so worried I'll end up bald! lol. I have thin hair to begin with, so I was desperately hoping to keep my hair nice and thick, but no luck :p I would also agree with others here, take vitamins; one for hair, skin, and nails, they work a treat!

Hello there,

I am having the same issues. I just noticed about a month ago I started shedding a lot of hair. At first I got freaked out by it and was not sure what was going on. nNow i have a better understanding...Thanks for asking a great question!!

All I have to say is THANK YOU all for making me feel normal! I was seriously thinking that I have some sort of ailment and was going to make an appt with my doc. My daughter is 3 1/2 months and this hair loss started about 2-3 weeks ago. I loose so much that it looks as if I am cleaning out my hair brush each time I shower, then again when I comb my hair. It's amazing we all are not bald! I have to dye my hair really bad but don't want to do anything to make my hair feel worse. I do feel better though :)

as lots of others have said you dont shed very much hair during pregnancy so when your baby is a few months old (varies with breastfeeding) you loose additional hair to get back to pre pregnant state. even tho i know this it still freaks me out just HOW much is coming out - its insane. as for the skin thing i think that its different for every woman but it is all about hormones and once they settle down things will go back to normal. hope this helps. x

Don't worry Suzanne..... It is perfectly normal to lose ALOT of hair about 3 months after your baby is born. For the 9 months that you were pregnant you didn't shed any hair so now 9 months worth of hair is coming out. I am losing massive amounts of hair ( particularly when I wash it) I promise you, you will not go bald :) It stops after a short while, from what I can remember from my first child it lasts about 2 months and then it slows down. Please don't panic, it is perfectly normal :)

Both happened big time for me with my first. There are tons of things you can do for your skin...I recommend Proactiv. The hair is unfortunately just a fact of life. =) If your hair got really thick it will shed like crazy

my hair did the same thing after I had my son I am also nursing so I thought it was from lack of vitamins.

Hi Suzanne, I have read that while you are pregnant, your body produces hormones that keep your hair from shedding as it normally does. So, about 3 months after childbirth, the hormones are gone and you begin shedding your hair. I have also heard of Mom's that loose their hair in clumps from the shock experience on your body. Mine shedds heavily now but the good news is that it should resume normal patterns in another 3 months.
