acid reflux & constipation

The easiest solution to this is to give him some pear juice. It's MUCH easier on the belly than prune juice or apple juice at this age. We mix it 1 ounce of juice with 2 ounces of water and give it to our daughter in a sippy cup. She throws up everything! She has reflux and has been on more meds & formulas than I can count. Right now we've settled on Gerber Good Start formula and add rice to her bottles to help thicken it up so she can keep it down. Since the juice is so thin and we were putting it in a bottle, she was drinking it way to fast then spitting it up... in a sippy she has to take her time and she ends up keeping it down better. my bub had the same problem if you are formula feeding and in australia definately use nestle nan H.A formula its what the health nurse told me to use and also definatley the rice cereal in the botttle..lil loves it and still has it to this day because it makes her feel fuller and makes her very happy and reflux and constipation have not been a problem since doing these things...

My son had teh same problem. The doctor put hom on Prevacid and for hte constipation we tried the juice and it just made him throw up. So we used Karo syrup. that seemed to work for awhile but there were times that we had to use a suppository. It really helped him out. Hope things work out for you!!!

You can always give your baby a glycerin baby soppository to help with the constipation. I have given them to both my kids every once in a while when they've been reall constipated. A baby can go three days without a bowel movement and still be ok though. I would look into the zantac for babies, I know they have some at my ped office. I would give my oldest son some karose syrup in his bottles because he had bad constipation as a baby. Just a little bit and it helped him go.

Simply let your baby drinks lots and lots of water. my baby was constipated i let her drink min 60 cc of water daily and she's ok now. In the worst case try the Glycerin Suppositories for infant and children.

gerber stage 1 fruits high in fiber are good. apples and prunes. avoid bananas.

My baby girl has been on zantac for her reflux since she was a month old, and she does get constipated a lot. The doctor recommend pear or prune juice, but not apple, because the apple is too acidic and irritates her reflux. But the prune juice does work. Maybe if he can't keep the prune juice down maybe you could try prune baby food, my daughter had that Sunday and it helped her.

my baby has both we had recived medicine from the docotr but for the contipation our doctor has her on prune juice she gets about 50ml in her bottle mixed and then also rice cereal in her bottles to help with the acid reflux hope this helps

My DD was just diagnosed with acid reflux. They put her on Zantac. So far she seems to not spit up as much, but she just started it last night. She's never had any problems with being constipated. I would suggest either baby food prunes or I'm pretty sure that they make enema's for baby's as well, but I'm not sure about that.

My little girl is constipated at the moment as well. Please let me know what else you have tryed. I am stuck what to give her as she is quite distressed.
