My son will be 2 years old in 3 weeks and he keeps complaining that his legs hurt. He grabs the back of his knees and his calves. I rub them and he seems to be fine after that. Is it normal for a 2 year old to have growing pains this early? Everything I have read online says this usually starts around 3 years old. It happens randomly and so far nothing at night. He is almost 36 inches tall. So I am not sure if this has something to do with it.

Its worth mentioning to a doctor as he may be walking or jumping putting a strain on his muscles oddly. My daughter wears an insert in her shoe to stop her knees turning very slightly. You would not guess looking at her that she has had a problem with her knees. After an appointment with a biomechanics orthopod she is now running and jumping and pain free.
