Any one else have a climber?

Our little girl is climbing on everything as well! Im afraid I will have to transition her from her crib to a big bed real soon! She recently climbs on our little cube foot stools, she positions them to where she wants them, climbs, then stands on top of them to just about get onto our desk! I've had to invest in some door handle covers so I know she can't climb out of my sight! Good luck!

We have a fireplace in our living room. Part of it is blocked by a mirror that Ryan smears with his fingerprints and drool, but he has been climbing onto the stone work of it. Fell off it a few days ago and onto one of my toys.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad we aren't the only family with climbing issues. My mom has a solid wall type gate and he was able to scale it. I thought the elder 3 had tested me every possible way, but Oli found something new.

My son started climbing as soon as he could crawl, and now, at 3 he is still going. We have had to make things "climb safe" like padlocking the dog yard so he can't unlatch the gate to set our dog free around the neighbourhood. We have installed new windows with locks. We try not to have unsteady bookshelves to climb, etc. We have built a HUGE gate across our driveway to keep him in. Good luck.

yes my dd of 15 months is a climber too, just about anything she can climb, coffe tables, chairs, the dog, couches, she hasn't tried the gates yet but is sometimes trying the cot. I bought her a climbing gym that goes outside, but we have it in our lounge room with pillows around. It has a slide come steps and she loves it! I am not too worried about it, its normal and good for them. She is a tough cookie

My little boy is climbing on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. Cannot take your eyes off him for a second! Haha. Health Visitor said it's perfectly normal, just make sure he can't hurt himself and obviously keep watching him. Also, try taking him to soft play if you can find one? There's one near where I live and Lucas loves it! He can climb the walls and the stairs and go down the slides and on the trampolines and i don't have to worry :D it's all made out of crash mats :D dont worry though, it's just a way of exploring the world around them! Boys will be boys :D

We allow climbing outside with presence of Mommy and/or Daddy. At 17 months, our son was climbing out of his crib, but it wasn't impeding on his sleep; he was allowed to climb out when sleep time was over. Time out for the offenses has been effective (one minute per year of age-- we even went to a digital timer and added 5 seconds each month).
