Any Other High Risk Pregnancies?

My daughter was born at 27weeks due to pre-term labor and an incompetent cervix. Now with this pregnancy I am extremely high risk because of those same reasons as well as possible uterine rupture (due to a vertical incision on my uterus from my c-section). As of right now I have already had 8 weeks of progesterone therapy, will begin P17 injections in a few more weeks, and will most likely end up with a cercalge in the next 4-8 weeks, as well as bedrest at some point. And none of it guarantees I don't have another preemie.

Just wondering if there is anyone else that's high risk (why and what steps are you taking)?

OK, on the late side side as my son is 4 months and a day old now but my pregnancy was very high risk. I am a type 1 diabetic, have an underactive thyroid, sarcoidosis and a history of multiple miscarriages...I am also an oesophageal cancer survivor (had surgery in February 2007)...he is here and I love him...I just would love another child too,he is such a great little boy!

high risk because my son was born at 34weeks. i have been unable to take any steps other than doing weekly check ups since 20weeks and bedrest. i was on partial bedrest from 20-24weeks because of placenta previa, more restricted bedrest from 24-30 and now i'm on bedrest fully. they never found out why my son was so early. i just woke up in labor one morning and got to the hospital an hour later and i was already 7cm dialated.

Yes I am high risk also. My son was born at 34 weeks and I am taking the p17 injections every week since week 19 until week 36. Hopefully, this will help us. Good luck and remember everything happens for a reason and makes just makes us stronger:)

My pregnancy is complicated my Neonatal Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia (or NAIT for short) which is a rare blood problem between my husband and I. There is an antigen on his platelet that I don't have and the baby does...while baby and I are sharing everything my body sees the baby's blood as foreign (because of the antigen) and creates antibodies toward it then I share them back to the baby. So the baby destroys it own blood. We almost lost our first child to it because it was not known for her. She was admitted to the NICU 12 hours after birth with about 8,000 platelets (100,000+ is normal) So for this one I get IVIG from 20-36 weeks once a week and it takes 6+ hours for the treatment. Then at 32 weeks I get to have cord blood taken and a amnio done. Then a steroid maybe added to the treatment if the baby has a low platelet count. At the 20 week ultrasound they found fluid around the babies lungs so I have an ultrasound every two weeks to monitor that.
We are having a baby boy! And this will be the last child for us...too much stress!

I had a cerclage put in today...my cervix had thinned significantly and was funneling as of yesterday...so in went the stitch...hoping this will give baby boy at least 13-15 more weeks inutero!

Well I found out on Thursday that my placenta is no longer over my cervix, which is awesome news because now I can deliver naturally. I still have bleeding from my 8 cm tear from earlier on in my pregnancy, but it is slowly healing. Also, found out at the last appt. that there's some old blood floating around in the amniotic fluid, but my Dr. says the baby will be ok because he has a different circulatory system. My Dr. also reccomended no more children for us, so we're hoping our little boy is delivered safe and healthy in the next 3-4 months.

Christina-I have a friend who also has placenta previa (placenta over the cervix) and she was told absolutely yes she would need an c-section. If you try a vaginal delivery you would deliver the placenta first and cut off the baby's oxygen. I wouldn't be too worried about a c-section, I had an emrgency one with my daughter and will have to have one this time. The section itself isn't bad...I hardly remember mine...I had an unusually bad recovery, but anticipate a much better one this time. Good luck!

I guess I'm semi-risk. At 8 weeks I started bleeding heavily and went to the ER and found out that my placenta had torn 8 cm. Since then I've been on bed rest and had lots of ultrasounds and appointments to check the baby and my cervix. Also, my placenta is right over the cervix so I'm terrified that I'm going to be having a c-section with this baby. I have been lightly bleeding every since. My Dr. is really concerned about me going into premature labor if my cervix can't handle the placenta and the blood. So hoping all goes well and I will be 20 weeks this Tuesday. Hope all your pregnancies go well for you all.

I am also a high risk pregnancy but with something (that I have found) more rare. I had a blood clot two years ago and so now every time I am pregnant I am considered high risk. I must be on heparin (blood thinner) injections everyday until 36 weeks and then twice a day until the baby's born and then again once a day for six weeks after. I also have to take vitamin d and calcium supplements everyday (in addition to my prenatal supplement) because the heparin increases the risk of developing osteoporosis. I had to tell my boss I was pregnant right away because I had five specialist appointments within my first month after finding out........ kinda scary cause this is my first, but my doctors say I should be okay and so should my baby as long as I stay on top of things. It's strange to be giving myself needles everyday and I feel a little lost because I have yet to meet, hear from, or see ANY posts from anyone on any website with the same problem as me. It's nice to know that other women have to deal with high risk too though. (not that I would wish a high risk pregnancy on anyone..... gah!)

Yep I'm a high risk. I am an IVF pregnancy, had a miscarriage in May 09, I have a tilted uterus and am at high risk for pre-eclampsia. I had fortnightly scans from 8-14 weeks and fortnightly obstetricians appointments. We tried to go for a 4-weekly gap between visits this time but halfway through I had a scare and ended up at the hospital *sigh* so I don't think anything will be changing for the time being.

I have a semi-high risk pregnancy. we had a miscarriage in March. Also, I have a very tilted uterus, which makes my cervix a lot more vulnerable. I just have to be checked very well and I have a lot of pap tests to make sure my cervix is moved every month, it could cause a lot of problems later on, and starting at 15 weeks I have to try to pee every half hour, if my bladder gets too full, I could not be able to pee and have to put a catheter in. Which I hate doing. They didn't find it with my first pregnancy, by the time they really checked me, they think it had corrected itself from the baby's weight.

yes your not alone in extremely high risk pregnancy. had a miscarriage to something call meckel-gruber. not very common very rare. but they are watching what i'm doing but i've got testing done and the thing with the very long needle that goes test the fluids around the baby and they are test that also. but i'm doing everything normal don't want to put any stress on my self and the baby so it doesn't hurt it... more stress your in more sugar lets out in your body. but i hope everything is going alright
