Did you tell your husband, family, etc in any fun ways?

For our LO, we didn't do anything special. DH knew I was taking the test. I just had him close his eyes and hold out his hand. For his parents, he just asked them how many grandchildren they've got, and when they said 16, he's like so would you like another one? We're TTC #2 right now, and I really want to order DD a I'm going to be a big sister T-Shirt, and have her walk out holding the pregnancy test to give to daddy, while wearing the T-Shirt. We've talked about getting a shirt for DD for telling the family though. My problem is I would be so excited that I don't know if I would be able to hold off telling him until the shirt comes. I could always order it now, just a little big so that we've already got it by the time I do get pregnant. However, it did take me 4.5 yrs to get preg with DD, so not sure if it will take a long time again or not.

I did not do what I am about to tell but I think it would be very cute. I wanted to take my Mother, Father, to an A & W and get them a grandma and grandpa burger. Cheesy yes but they would get the point. As for my hubby I told him in person and we were both quite shocked.

With our first baby, we told our families on christmas, so we wrapped up a picture of the ultrasound in a custom-made frame that said "great parents get promoted to grandparents" and let them figure it out themselves what it was. It was really cute.

With our second (this pregnancy), my daughter just wore a shirt that said "big sisters are the coolest" that I got at children's place. we didn't say a word, just went about our visit with our parents and waited until they took a minute to actually read her shirt. It took them a while :)

i sent my mother a funny e-card for her birthday because i found out the day before that i was pregnant and it was cute saying things like bring out all of my old nursery rhyme books and polish off those bottles cause you're gonna be a grandma she was really surprised but she was really happy

to tell my husband with this one (number 3 ) i set up an extra place at the dinner table along with a high chair with a teddy sitting in it

My husband, our dog and my self took a family picture together and then I edited it to say, "New haircut - $20, Grooming for the dog - $50, Camera used to take this picture - $145. Knowing that this is really a family of 4 - Priceless". Then we gave a copy of the pic to each of our parents and watched them figure out what it meant. It was truly priceless lol.

I took a pregnancy test while my husband was at work. When he got home, I had him come up to our room where I had laid the test on top of one of our son's old newborn pajamas. He had completely forgotten that I was going to take the test, so he was surprised!



My mom came to visit a week later, so when my son and I met her at the airport, I had him show her his special new book: "I'm a Big Brother"! She was speechless at first and then super excited. It was also a fun way for her to tell my dad when she talked to him that night.

With this pregnancy (our third) we made t-shirts that read Dempsey, party of five?? and then each had a number on it ... of course, my shirt had a little number 5 over my belly with "due April 29th" below it :o) My parents and in-laws loved it :o)

I took the pregnancy test and it was the one that reads 'Yes' on it. So I ran over to my hubby and said "look what I found". Well he held it, turned it around and said "what's this, a new grilling brush". In shock I just said "read it". He then slowly started to understand that is was a pregnancy test. Man I wish I had recorded that, it was too funny.



For my In-Laws I took a picture of the test, and gave my camera to my mother in law and told her to scroll through the pictures of some recent photo's of my son. She of course then ran across the pregnancy test one and just looked up at me and started smiling. It was cute (btw, my father in law didn't get it...lol..so he had to be told).

For my first baby, we waited until Christmas and gave my in-laws a picture frame that said grandparents on it with the ultrasound in it along with grandma and grandpa bibs. I wore a t-shirt that said "Jingle belly, jingle belly, baby on the way" to my parents house for Christmas and we told friends by showing the ultrasound picture and saying look what santa got us this year. For my second baby, we had my son wear a t-shirt that said I'm going to be a big brother. And for this one, our third, we had our son ask for prayer request at church for the new baby since most of our extended family attends. We also told friends that we'd be having our own labor day in April since we made the announcement early September.

We haven't told anyone yet, but I designed and ordered a custom t-shirt for my 17 mo. son to wear that says "I'm going to be a big brother!". Plan is for him to wear it when we see family Labor day weekend. It'll be fun to see how long it takes them to notice the shirt!

We kind of told the in-laws in an interesting way. Last weekend it was my husbands grandparent 50th wedding anniversary, and there was a huge party thrown for them. Well since we hadn't told his side of the family yet, we thought this would be a great opportunity to tell them. What we did was, signed their card "Love: Trevor, Cheryl, Madison and Baby #2". It was really funny because when his grandmother read it, it didn't click. We had to get her to read the card again. Then she was like "OMG, No Way!!"... then everyone was asking what was going on. Instead of ANOYONE saying it out load, they just kept passing the card down the line. It was pretty funny.

i just kinda eased my hubby into it...nothing real creative...but my MOM!! i had just gotten a haircut a couple days before so i went over to her house and asked her to take a picture of my "new change" for myspace. as planned, she assumed i meant the haircut. she got the camera and directed me over to the couch. i said, "actually, i wanna do it standing up." she didnt think anything of it, just kinda gave me a weird look. when she said get ready, i turned to the side and lifted my shirt. she was like, "what the heck are you doing??" i just grinned!

it actually took her quite a while to believe it because ive been TTC for 10 months. she thought i was pulling her leg! LOL
