My braxton hicks don't hurt at all. I just get super tight. God forbid I should eat a big meal and be constipated. I have them early and often this pregnancy. I think most are stress induced.

the first description is pretty spot-on...it's a feeling of tightening all over your belly and your whole belly will feel hard for a few seconds until it passes. It's more of an all-over tightening, whereas the real contractions are more lower and more painful...

I've had TONS of BH with both my first girl and now this one. It is a tightening of the uterus, that can be accomanied by pain. Some woman get the pain with it and some woman don't. Bring up all signs of any contractions to your doctor, because pain or not, it could lead to something. Definitly if you've had more than 4 BH in one hour talk to your doctor. If they are uncomfortable, try sitting down, resting with your feet up and drinking lots of fluids, they should go away.

i am 23 weeks and have just started experiencing what i thought was cramps/cramping and i talk to a nurse about it and she said that it sounded like braxton hicks. i just get alot of cramping that kind of feels like it would if i was to be expecting my period and it is quite uncomfortable and that is what i have come to know braxton hicks to be. hope all is ok with you!

Quoting Lindsay:
BH contractions should be a painless tightening...any pain with them should be brought up to your OB.
i asked my ob as soon as they started hurting and she wasnt concerned about it, but yeah, the doctor should definitely be notified if they hurt

i first started feeling them when i was around 18 weeks i think...i thought at first that it was the baby rolling over or something...it felt like a lot of pressure and my uterus felt like a big rock. it would last 10 seconds to a minute for me, then slowly loosen. at first they didnt hurt, just felt kind of weird, but now im 27 weeks and they've been hurting a little. its pretty weird!
