Hi I have a 10 month old that I can not get to sleep through the night. I think I have to do some tough love and let her cry til she falls asleep. It's just so hard to do..it breaks my heart. I work full time & it's effecting my sleep & throwing me off. I'm just trying to figure out when she's up she's very clingy I can't leave her for a second. Is that separation anxiety? I try talking to her to say I'll be right back but it doesn't matter she still cries. I understand she's too young to understand but I keep talking to her about it everyday hopefully she will understand oneday soon. I just want her to atleast sleep 4 -5 hours straight but I'm getting 2 hours if that or 1 hour at a time...it's crazy. Any advice. I tried giving her motrin one night thinking it was her teeth but she still didn't sleep through the night. I give baths, cereal, even play soft lullabyes and it doesn't work. What to do?

I have a 10 month old daughter and I am still trying to figure out how to get her on a decent sleeping schedule at night. I also have a 3 year old son and I never had any problems with him sleeping at night at all. He would also go to bed at a decent time every night and be fine with me putting him down in his crib at night and just go right to sleep, so he was a very easy baby. Now with my daughter, I had to quit my first shift job because she is a very difficult baby. She wants to stay up every night until 2:00-sometimes even 3:00 in the morning and I have tried doing early naps during the day and everything to get her going to bed at a normal time. Some days she will actually even go the whole day without even taking a nap and still stays up late at night. Even if she falls asleep at around 9:30-10:00 at night, I'll lay down myself so I can get atleast a little sleep and think that she is actually out for the night and she will get back up around Midnight or 1:00 in the morning. I've tried late night baths hopeing that will help her to go to bed earlier, I bought this lavendar bead scented Hippo animal that you put in the microwave to increase the aroma of the lavendar and help soothe her to sleep better, I'm pretty sure I've tried it all! I really would love to get back to work as soon as possible, because I'm just not the type of person that is cut out to stay at home all day everyday, although, I love getting to spend all the time in the world with my kids as much as possible, but I'm starting to go nuts being stuck in my house everyday and I really want to start working again. So if anyone has any kind of advice at all that you could pass on to me to help me to get her sleeping on a regular schedule at a decent time every night, it would be very much appriciated. :) Oh, and once she actually falls asleep for good for the night, she always sleeps in until 11-11:30 in the morning, which is nice for me to be able to get caught back up on my sleep after staying up until 3 a.m. every morning, but it has literally messed up all of our sleeping schedules! As much as I enjoy getting the extra sleep, I hate waking up that late in the afternoon everyday. So any kind of advice or ideas that anyone has for me would be really great! Thanks! :)

No. I have a 2 1/2 month old little boy. I am a foster parent and I have had two other babies and they were definitely not this hard. He is fussy when I pick him up from daycare.. He starts about 7 until bathtime. He goes down about 10 and then is back up between 1:30 and 2:30. Last night he woke up at 1:30 and only slept in 45 minute increments after that. I am miserable.

My son turns 3mos in a few days and he sleeps from around 10-11pm until around 4am which I am happy for. If i give him a bath before his last bottle he sleeps well until about 6am! After his 4am or so feeding, he wakes up again to eat around 8am.

My daughter has been sleeping through the night since she was 3 months. I always take her a bath before bed, around 8:00 then give her a bottle. She also sleeps in her own crib and sleeps till about 7 or 8am. I think routine has a lot to do with it. I have a 4 year old and I did the opposite with her and she would wake up constantly.

I was very lucky, my daughter started to sleep through the night (6-8 hours) when she was a few months old, she has always had her own room.

My son doesn't sleep through the night n I am the reason for it. I know how to fix it but .... He sleeps in his cot then I take him to my bed when I am going to bed plus he breastfeeds sleep..ohhhhhhh what have I done...hard to undo but will do since his sleeping pattern turn for the worst the last few days due to sickness..He now sleeps 11.30pm or 12am, wakes me up 2 times for feed then he gets up 9am..won't sleep midday but can't stop him from sleeping @ 5pm then awake 9.30-10pm till midnight...what a mess..I am dying

My daughter now 23 weeks old has been sleeping in her crib throughout the night since she was 16 weeks o and she loves it. If I want to have her in my bed she does not sleep at all. She usually goes to bed about 9-10pm and wakes up around 8-9am. I usually feed her around 7-8pm so that she has a full belly before bed.

Sort of...we co-sleep, and are usually in bed by 10pm. She wakes up a couple of times to nurse, but it's not a full wake-up (she's still half-asleep) and she then falls right back to sleep. She wakes up for the day between 9 and 10am. To answer a previous poster's question, she's EBF except for two meals of solids (fruits and veggies) a day...which mostly end up on her :).She's 8 mos old, and has slept like this for several mos.

i feel bad for all you guys lol my daughter has been sleeping through the night for a very long time.... once in a while she'll wake up for a little snack and fall right back to sleep... guess im pretty lucky, but on the other hand shes not a very good nap taker. she'll take a nap 1.5-2 hours after she wakes up in the morning, then maybe a late morning nap and maybe a longer afternoon nap. then shes in bed anywhere from 7-830 pm. and wakes up anywhere from 530am-7am... good luck to all you ladies....

My son will sleep from 7pm until 3-4 am then I breastfeed him and then he will go back to sleep until 6:30-7:00 am. We did have a stretch when he was 3 months old where he would sleep all night without waking up. I think we're doing pretty well with just one wake up but I long for a full nights sleep.

My son just turned 8mths.... For the past few weeks he has been waking up almost every hour and sometimes several times a hour. And this goes on all night long... I don't mind getting up with him and nursing please don't get me wrong.... I just want to make sure everything with him is okay. He started this when we moved to a larger house. But, his bed is open to my side of the bed, where I'm able to touch him at all times. When he wakes (eyes still closed) he nurses for a minute or two then pops off back to sleep.... Does he just need to know that I am there?

My daughter is almost 5 months. She still gets up every 3 hours give or take. Sometimes she'll take a full feeding and other times she will just fall right asleep at my breast or bottle. She wont take a paci. And sometimes when i go in to check on her i can hear her sucking in her sleep.

My daughter is 8 weeks and exclusively breastfed. I've tried to get her on a nighttime schedule, but i'm not getting anywhere. Sometimes she sleeps for 4-6 hours, other times shes up every 2-3. I feed her on demand and let her sleep when shes tired. The letting her sleep and eat when she wants is really hard sometimes as my son was formula fed and on a strict feeding/sleeping schedule. I'm hoping she will start sleeping more at night, cause lately shes been awake from 1-3/4am and my son is up at 8am :(

My daughter was sleeping through the night before she was 2 months old going to bed around 8:30 but no later than 9:00. N would sleep til 9:00 the next morning. Now my son has been sleeping though the night from 3 months. Same for him goes to bed around the same time and is around the same time. I find it help with my babies that I give them a bath a hour before bed and a bottle that way their belly is full and sleep better but every baby is different.
