My little guy who is 13 weeks old also has nasal congestion. This was a concern to me and his pediatrician also says this is normal. I give him saline and then suck his nose clean using the nasal bulb. I read the directions on the saline and it says safe to use as needed. He then began to cough and we took him back to the pediatrician and found out he now has a cold. It just breaks my heart.

i have a two year old daughter and she is still having this problem just as my two month old daughter... the only thing you can do is before putting your little one down for a nap or down for the night use a little bit of vicks vapor rub on his chest and i use the saline drops everyday..so i havent seen anything wrong with my oldest or with my youngest..its up to you if you feel comfy using it..

Using saline drops every day as an adult can have a reverse effect and actually clog the sinuses...perhaps the same is happening with your baby. Did your doctor recommend using the saline every day? Maybe back off of the saline for a while and see if it clears up naturally. Both of my children had on and off nasal congestion and I never used anything to treat it - it cleared up naturally.

Yeah my son will be 12 weeks next week and he has had the same problem since birth. I was also concerned and the doc said that it was normal and would go away on its own. It just bothers me that I have my family consently asking me about it and I tell them the same thing that the doctor says its normal. It's like everytime the see me that ask me again if I have seen a doctor for his congestion it's like they are calling me a liar, so I am glad that its normal and my son is not the only one going through it.

thats was similar to my first heidi, she had a cold and wasnt feeding properly an very nasally. i was quite worried an they reasurred me an gave her the saline drops. they worked well for heidi but freya is still the same. i was told though as freya was a c-section it could have something to do with that. both my girls were c-sections and both had to go on the neo natal units when born and be started on anti biotics but its freya that is still suffering.

my daughter freya is the same. she was taken to the neo natal baby unit when born as she was making 'grunting' noises but since she was a few weeks old we started to notice she had a snuffly nose and uses the saline drops. not sure if they are helping as when heidi had then she was ok within a week or so.
