i have the same problem with my daughter who is 8 months. i found she will have a few mouthfuls of weetbix and also potato with gravy if it has a little more milk with it so as it is smoother for baby? i just stick with it and shes learning the feel of food in her mouth slowly

Yes ive tried Boiling my own foods and mashing them, and he still wont eat them, tonight i had mashed potatoes and he wouldnt even try it.... its getting worse. :(

have u tried cooking your own fruits and vegies for him my little girl was the same she still doesnt care much for tinned food but absolutely loves home cooked food i know its time consuming also she loves mashed banana, weetbix and yoghurt mind u if hes really not eating maybe take him to the doctors saves u stressing!

every baby is different. Just giving him a 'taste" is totally fine @ his age.... he doesnt need it or he would want it. My lactation doctor told me to start with fruit first and try one at a time (1 for 3-5 days) then exhaust the fruits: avacodo, bananas, pears, plums etc (no citrus) and then try green foods... peas, carrots etc. again one at a time & then intro cereals. I know contrary to what "they" say, but again EVERY CHILD is they're own person & different. Do what works for your kid. I feel like we force our kids to try to grow up too fast. Enjoy this time; it only will be for a short time & then it will be over. You are being his best mom! And doing a good job - go with your instincts not what "everyone says" you "should" be doing. He dosn't like eating baby cereal, at all... So in the mornings i give him some carrots and then half a bottle (he drinks 8 oz if not 9)... and i try giving him some at lunch but he dont eat it, he only eats 1 spoon..and i try again before bed so he can have a full tummy but he wont eat it,i try everyday 3 times a day, but he just dosn't wanna eat it.. :(

my pediatrician told me that their primary food at this stage is really still milk so dont stress out too much, especially if he is not underweight. At least he is still taking the formula. You can try thickening it a little with cereal (whichever he prefers) and introducing the solids AFTER his bottle, so he can have a little taste of everything not really as a meal. A hint also is I realised my baby does not really like the "sweet" foods, she will eat green beans but not sweet peas and prefers pears to bananas. Dont give up, keep trying different things. But dont buy them in bulk!!! He will eventually like more things

How many times have you tried giving him a certain flavor of food? It takes a few times before a baby get's used to and actually starts liking a new food. My daughter hated squash the first few times I tried giving it to her but after awhile she liked it. Does he like rice cereal or oatmeal? If so, try mixing in a little bit of veggies or fruits so he can gradually get used to it.

try adding a quarter to half a teaspoon of corn syrup to the mashed foods... just enough to sweeten slightly... my DD didn't like veggies or meat n veggies until we made it taste a bit better (most of those baby foods are blah!). every time we try to use a less.
DH and i also found that cereal could really quickly n easily constipate our girl, so we often add the fruit purees to her cereal. we don't add corn syrup much anymore now to veggies, and seems to be a bit of a texture thing, so we use a little cereal to make it to a consistency she likes
