The nurse at my ob's office says that based on my symptoms and the fact that my mother had it when she was pregnant with me, I may have the beginning signs of pre-eclampsia. I'm 32 weeks right now, so luckily it's coming near the end instead of when it would be way too early to deliver the baby if necessary. I'm really nervous about it but the nurse said since it's so early into it right now and there's a snowstorm under way that I can probably wait to come in until my checkup next Tuesday, unless anything gets worse or I develop any more symptoms. She said it definitely sounds like that's what it is though. Does anyone here have this? If so, how did the diagnosis go? Did they put you on bedrest?

i had it with my son and they made me do a 24 hour urine test thing to get diagnosed and when we found out i had it they put me on bed rest for 2 weeks and then induced me at 37 weeks but i had a very mild case of it but does ur tummy itch constantly and nothing seems to make it feel better? or are u really swollen? High blood pressure?

at 36 weeks of my pregnancy after running so many tests they were trying to diagnose why i was swelling so bad ( i swelled from my feet up into my stomach). All my 1 hr glucose tests came back high so they gave me a 3 hr and that came back normal and having high blood pressure they put me on complete bedrest. after 2 weeks i did a 24 hr urine sample and that came back abnormal so I was later induced and gave birth the next day after the results came back on that urine sample.

How your situation/delivery plays out totally depends on how severe the case is and whether or not they can control it. The biggest thing is to not stress, since stress can make your blood pressure even worse. I have gestational diabetes, so I am at a higher risk to develop pre-E too, but thankfully have shown no signs of it at this point. I'm only 30 weeks. Hang in there! I hope things go ok and you keep baby in as long as possible!

I did not have Pre-E, but a few friends of mine did. They were put on bedrest in the hospital for a few days to be monitored and given meds. Of the 3 that had it, 2 delivered within a few days since it couldn't get under control(one at 33 weeks, one at 34) and the third delivered a week and a half later when it got bad and meds wouldn't work (at 33 weeks). I hope things go well for you and symptoms don't get any worse!
