Hi Girls!, my little 5 month old boy has a very red rash around his chin and neck, it is so hard to keep dry as he is constantly dribbling. I have tried Vasoline, paw paw cream and i am now onto curash cream which seems to be helping a little bit, i change his bib up to 30 times a day! Help does anyone else have any advice on how i can help him?
Thankyou!!

My daughter is VERY chubby and trying to keep under her neck rash-free is a challenge! I am constantly wiping her with either a wipe or washcloth (because most of the time it's from spit up or drool) I put a little powder (the kind that has cornstarch in it) under her neck with my fingers (NEVER sprinkle on, babies should never breath it in) and if it gets really irritated, I use the cream they had given me for her bum when she had a bad diaper rash so to yeast when she was born. It's called Vusion. It works GREAT for under her neck, but I only use it when i have too. I'm very picky on keeping her "smelling pretty" but sometimes things get trapped under that adorable double chin of hers. LOL!

Hope you find a solution that works for you! :-)

maybe it is because that area is damp alot because of dribbling etc. i would try not using any lotions etc for a couple of days and just use talc to keep the area dry.

hey my pharmasist told us to use the QV stuff ( the baby bath, bath oil and lotion) and it works wonders, and then you could use a crash cream to seal it....also doc told me that after bub has a bath it takes a few minutes for the moisture to go back into their skin but if they have dry skin it takes like 3 hours...so maybe try a bath every 2 days and just wipe him down with a napy wipe in between

So, I don't want to be heckled out of the forum for saying this, but, (and you probably already are)
Are you using a gentle color/fragrance free detergent when you wash the bibs?

My baby has a rash on either side of is neck too and my Dr said it was eczema. I have the QV flare up wash to put in his bath but can't use it just yet as its for babies over 6mths and mine is just over 5. If you struggle to keep it dry, put some baby powder on it a few times a day to help soak up the slobber.

My doctor recommended Caldesene brand powder for the same thing. It's talc with zinc oxide. Just be careful to shield your daughter's face when you apply it so she's not breathing a bunch in. I think it works great.

I wouldn't put vasoline on his skin. Doctors and studies show that petroleum is hard on babies sensitive skin. It could be from his drooling, which he could be getting ready to or is teething. Some babies have baby acne, he could be having an allergic reaction, or he could be sick. S small rash around the mouth could mean many things. If you are worried about it, just talk to your doctor at his 6 month appointment or make one for sooner. Just keep his neck clean and dry as possible (in the folds of his skin) you do not want him to get raw and have open sores.
