My son just turn one on april 1st. Yep, April fools baby. He will soon be switching over to milk. I am hoping that the transition will not be hard. I am still not sure if he should drink his real milk from a bottle or if he should drink it from a sippy. Any one know what I should be doing with this?

I too am transitioning from formula to real milk. What I have done is mix the bottles half and half. 4 oz formula and 4 oz 2% milk. I will then keep tapering her off the formula 2 oz at a time. She seems to be adjusting to it just fine.

Thank you guys. you have all been helpful. I have sucessfully gotten him to take his juice in a sippy. Now we are just waiting to take the leap from formula to milk. After that I will try starting him with it in his cup. I think i will just take things one step at a time. slowly ease him into each stage.

Whatever he is willing to do. Some kids take to sippy cups right away and others, it takes a bit more time. Sometimes, the kind of sippy cup makes a difference too. Ultimately, the goal is to get him off of bottles now because it can be more difficult later on to do so. Just keep trying, in time he will adjust. Good luck!
Oh, I should add, once he takes a sippy cup for any of his milk feedings, even if only once a day, don't let that feeding go back to a bottle at any point. It might confuse him and possibly make him revert back to the bottle entirely.

You won't know untill you try. My son will turn1 on the 19th and he has been on only whole milk for a few weeks now. If he drinks well from a sippy I would say just try it and see if he takes to it, all kids react differently. For us about the first week I had to warm the milk up a bit for him bc he wasn't used to milk being so cold, now he just takes it cold so you might take that into account also it may not be that he doesn't like it but it may be the temperature. Anyways good luck hope it goes smoothly.

In my opinion just do one thing at a time. Get him/her used to milk and then transition from bottle to cup. Right know I do half formula half milk in bottles for transition and then at dinner give her milk in cup with dinner. But that's just me..good luck!
