I have a 13 month old son, named Riley. He usualy eats pretty well with me. My issue is for anyone else he doesnt like to eat. He'll put it in his mouth, chew and chomp, then spit it out..? Any suggestions? I've tried a couple different things but they didnt work...=( Help!

I was told by a dietitian that you have to reintroduce a food 28 times before you will get a result sometimes...interesting I though.

introduce something new, even something he refused previously. My son is 14months old, and I discovered that if I keep offering different foods to him, eventually I will get one that he will accept to eat. Good luck!

Sounds like attention- as someone posted already. I also notice my little one (14mo) does the same thing or chooses not to eat if a lot is going on like a BBQ, fair... Are there other people causing distractions for him?? I keep trying and have him just sit with his bottle, but I choose not to let him leave the dinner table until we are done. (I would also wonder what they are feeding him? Same as you? When all else fails I also provide my son an alternate option-- crackers, cheese or something that he usually won't say no to?!? Good luck!

I see that other posters have misread your question and don't get that you are having trouble with Riley when other people are looking after him or feeding him. I hope my post addressed your question.

are you feeding him? or is he feeding himself? It may be as simple as that. My son is choosey eater also, I have had to try several things for him and he likes what he likes and dislikes what he likes.

My little fella Declan is almost 14 months. He is exactly the same. He wont eat. He'll eat some things but just grazes. He thrashes his head from side to side and screams when I try to feed him at dinner time. I usually leave it a few mins and try again. I find he likes to hold his own food but he's too young to fed himself (it just ends up on the floor) so I give him something to hold while I sneak the spoon in here and there. As long as they're getting their milk supply, they'll eat when they're hungry I figure! Hope it gets better for you.

It could be that the attention and reaction was so exciting for him when he first tried it that he keeps doing it. If people can agree to take away his food and pretend to get on with what ever is next after the meal, removing him from the table, doing this consistently will most likely stop it.
