My son never took a bottle, and I had an awful time trying to get him to use a sippy cup - until I found the NUK learner cup (thanks, Internet!). The soft spout makes all the difference. After a few months with those, now he understands the concept of how the cups work, and he'll drink from any other cup without problems.

my daughter was also born on April 2! We have a unique situation because I am still nursing and she would never take a bottle. I like the avent sippy cups. They are semi soft and she seems to be able to swallow the most from them. I forget what they are called as I had them from when my 2 year old was a baby. They are light blue with a white top. I also like the playtex ones. They are more firm but never leak. I tried munchkin but they leak all over.

Use one that has a soft tip. I tried the "hard end" one and since my son is teething too, it was horrible for him. He would throw his cup down.

I've tried several different sippy cups with my daughter (9 mos born April 17th) & I've had the most success with the Nuby & Munchkin sippy cups b/c of the soft nipples. They have a sippy cup that's a sports bottle & resembles a bottle. Right now, it's not her favorite but she will drink juice only from it. She has been on a sippy cup since 6 mos & won't even take a bottle if put in front of her. I've been introducing the sippy cups w/the harder nipples & valves & she will take draws from them but prefers the softer nipples still. It's trial & error. Just try a few different ones - your little one will let you know which one is the perfect one! Good luck...

when my son was little, I went through every sippy cup I could find. The only one he would use was the take and toss cups. Then when he was assessed for delays, one of the questions the therapists asked was if he used a cup, and both the therapists said that the take and toss are the easiest for babies because they don't have to suck as hard to get liquid out. They are the only cups that we have given our youngest, and they are super inexpensive since they are meant to be thrown out.
