My 10 month daughter just recently won't eat solids. She only wants her bottle. It also seems her appetite has decreased and she's not eating nearly as much as she used to. Could it be teething? Any advice or anyone have this problem?

We're in the same boat. But I found out why she didn't have appetite that's because she drank a lot of milk whenever she wakes up in the morning. I figured she can only have about 2-3 ounces of milk, just a fair amount so she can eat other food/s. This is how much she takes every meal (she eats every 3 hours) just so she doesnt get very hungry. I hope this helps.

Firstly, have a look at what your daughter consumes over the course of a week, not each day - some days this age group can seem to not eat much at all and then a few days later they make up for it. The best advice I can give is what I have done with both of my children (it could possibly be coincidence but I have two very un-fussy eaters, they will pretty much eat anything)
Allow your daughter to self feed - cut up veggies into sticks and steam until soft, my kids favourite was always brocoli as it is really easy for them to break apart and gum. mashed potato is great fun to squoosh with fingers and mush into mouth. Don't be afraid of mess. This is the absolute messiest way to teach kids to eat but it also encourages a really wide variety of food to be eaten (it will also be thrown, dropped, pushed into ears, nose and hair) but just try it and think of it as a fun game. While being allowed to play with her food you will be surprised at how much she manages to eat!
This method also eliminates the need to encourage children to eat 'lumpy' food - they pretty much eat everything right from word go!
Good luck :)

My son did the same thing when he was 9 months old. He didn't want to take any baby food or took very little amount. I am also not sure what causes this exactly and I didn't see he has any new teeth come out though. I was so frustrated. Anyway, I just kept trying to offer him the food (basically anything including table food) and found him take a bit more of the table food and fruits if I cut them into small pieces. And he likes to eat Cheerios and Crackers. The important thing is you need to make sure that your daughter get enough milk. Now my son is 11 months old and his appetite came back (finally! though it took quite a while). He now eats pretty much anything I offer including the baby food.

i read in my baby bible that at this age your baby will go off food, don't though as long as they are getting something (milk) it will wear off by 11 11 and half months. :)

Could she possibly have an ear infection or something like that?

I don't know if I'm just lucky or if it was my doing but my kids both eat pretty well. I wrote and article about it on my blog. The article is called Fussy Eaters

My daughter's doing almost the same thing. Except for her, she was off baby food at 9 months because she didn't want it anymore. She just wanted table food. Then, at 9 1/2 months old, she got sick and had a sore throat. She didn't eat any solid food for a week, she only nursed. Now, she doesn't like anything chunky. However, she will eat chunks of chicken, grilled cheese, bread, string cheese, and just recently would eat little pieces of red bell pepper. She wasn't eating much, so I put her back on baby food. Now, even the chunks in the baby food she sometimes spits out. I think it's more of a texture thing. I want her to be off baby food in 3 weeks when she turns 1, but I don't know how I'm going to do that if she doesn't want to eat that much regular food.

My daughter is having the same but opposite problem. She is eating her cereal in the AM, fruits/yogurt/veggies at lunch and her supper (veggies and meat) but her formula consumption has decreased to 6 oz to 12 oz... I called her Dr and the nurse said just keep offering she'll eventually take more...she said that during teething babies sometimes go through milk strikes or food strikes... it kills me and i keep offering the bottle every hour almost...
