Hi Anita. I see your son is a graduate from Fort Sill. My son was there for his training and graduated September 07. He is a 13Delta...Field Artillery Tactical Data Systems Specialist, and also trained Paratrooper. He jumps out of the planes after the Howitzer's are sent down. He has been in Afghanistan since January and although he is with the 82nd Airborne, he is "on loan" to the 101st while in Afghanistan. He will be home next month for a 2 week leave and then go back and finish up until January. Since he has decided to re-enlist while in combat, he already has another deployment date of next April. You are correct, phone service sucks and we find it much easier to use Yahoo Messenger and our webcams. At least I get to see him, even though I can't touch him and hug him. He is also a newlywed, came home last July to get married, and I try to keep his wife busy and we are both a good support system for each other. Right now we are counting down the days until he comes home next month. Believe it or not, he will leave Afghanistan on July 1st and it will take 10 days for him to get to the states! His 2 week leave will start the minute he lands on American soil. Well, I am praying for your family and your son, that you can all get through this deployment smoothly. He is doing a wonderful thing for our country and I am proud of him, as I'm sure you are too.

My Son is a Base format radio man right now until he re-ups in July, he was actually trained to drive the M-109 Palliden a Howitzer Tank so his MOS is 79 Bravo Field Artillery, he called me today it was nice to hear his voice, he was working at a desk and had a few minutes to call home! Best Wishes to you and your son!

Thank you so much. Zack called last night to tell us made it and sent some pictures through facebook. I am hoping facebook will help ease the tension. That way our whole family can keep in touch with him easily. He is an MP on the police transition team. How about your son? What is he doing over there?

One day at a time Juli and try your best to keep in contact with him! If at all possible make sure he has a laptop because phone service in the other Countries stinks, and he'll probably be too busy to phone all the time. My Son has been in Iraq since Jan and has only had the chance to call home once but we stay in touch on IM and email!
