Advent Lunches Countdown

I primarily blog about recipes and my daugther's bento lunches I make her for school. She has a peanut allergy so I cannot trust the cafeteria food to be safe for her (plus I know what I pack for her is much more healthy).

I started making her lunches at just under the age of two to take to school. At that time she was attending an all-day special needs school for an educational ASD diagnosis. Imagine, packing lunches for an almost two year old who was picky and while you're still learning about her food allergy too.

I've always made her "silly sandwiches" (as I called them) - I figured if I have to make her lunch every day, why not make it fun for both of us instead of the same boring brown paper bag & sandwich on a diagnal. Right? :)

Fast forward - My daughter is now six years old and I still make her lunches daily. Bentos have become a creative outlet for me while keeping her spirits high when she can't partake in the same lunches as her friends at school.

This holiday season, I started an Advent Countdown in her lunches. What better way to keep count until Christmas then with a fun lunch and number associated with it. It's been so much fun seeing her expressions and joy from the lunches, as well as, her waking up to tell ME how many days were now left.
