The Best Part of Living in the San Francisco Bay Area
The diversity — from the geography and natural wonders, to the many things to do, to the variety of people, neighborhoods, architecture and entertainment. You can hike on a mountain or visit a farm, then enjoy great ethnic food in a thriving neighborhood the same day. It is nearly impossible to be bored.
My Favorite Kid-friendly Activity in the Bay Area
Proclaiming Tourist Day and riding the cable cars on an all-day pass, stopping along the routes to see fortune cookies formed in Chinatown and sourdough bread baked at Fisherman’s Wharf, take in the Cable Car Museum, marvel at the world’s crookedest street and, in winter, cap it off by ice skating at Justin Herman Plaza or Union Square.
Some Say It's Hard to Raise a Kid in the Bay Area...
Aside from the Bay Area’s famous cost of living, it’s a wonderful place to raise a child. There’s a great deal to do at any age, for any interest and on any budget. And there’s always something new to try. It’s a stunningly beautiful place with fine weather. There is such diversity of nature, culture, people and experiences, I think it may be difficult for many kids raised here to live anywhere else.
