What's a simple eco-friendly habit all families can start?

Use cloth napkins, washcloths, etc. Break the paper habit. It is no more difficult to grab a washcloth to clean up a mess than a paper towel. You just throw the washcloth in the laundry, not the trash. Same thing with cloth napkins. That's why you have a washing machine. Reuse, reuse, reuse.

What would you say to moms who want to be more eco-friendly, but worry it will be more expensive?

I always say green is also about saving it. That is the entire premise behind Our Daily Green, how going green can not just save the planet but also our wallet. We talk about shopping thrift stores (reusing), filling water bottles from the tap (reducing), and simple cooking tips to grow and make food at home, instead of overpriced, processed, pre-packaged, pre-made meals. A lot of folks don't realize how easy these tips are and that they really save money!

What's one of your favorite eco-friendly brands you've discovered?

Speaking of laundry, I'm a huge fan of Charlie's Soap. For cleaning, I really like Bar Keepers Friend, and we make our own soda/sparkling water with Soda Stream. I do product reviews from time to time (maybe 10% of our posts are reviews), but only for companies that really will fit our mission of saving money and the planet.
