What health changes have you experienced from becoming vegetarian or vegan?

I have lost weight and my skin is clearer and my melanoma has gone away. But by far the greatest benefits for me have been emotional and spiritual. I feel amazing knowing that the way I eat is compassionate to all creatures on earth, and that I have opted my family out of an entire food system that contains added hormones, antibiotics and all-around bad juju.

Do you expect your kids to be vegetarian or vegan?

I expect my son will make his own choices as he grows up. Our home is vegan but the co-op where he spends three afternoons per week is not. So he is not completely vegan even now, at 15 months old. I will do my best to keep working on my own healthy eating, and my relationship with food, while giving him healthy options at home. I will also explain our family choices in age-appropriate ways. That's all I can do, the rest is up to him!

What's one of your favorite foods you've discovered by being vegetarian or vegan?

Yum sauce! (recipe on my blog.)
