What's the biggest challenge of raising a child in your area?

Although I live in a small beautiful city at the beach, it's still much like an urban environment. In my neighborhood, there are no sidewalks and no tree-lined streets — though we do have a great view of the water. We don't have a yard like many traditional homes. This makes it challenging for parents in my area — kids can't just walk outside or go play in the yard. Their activities have to be more closely supervised.
