What's the biggest way that technology has made your life as a mom easier?

Technology makes it so much easier to connect with people and find support and information. Rather than sitting alone with a screaming baby at 3am you can now use your smartphone to keep in contact with other Mums in the same situation. When my son was hospitalised at 2 weeks old I had the constant support of family and friends 24x7 whilst I was there with him, and hearing from other people of their similar experiences made it easier for me to get through what was a very scary time. With my smartphone by my side I always have access to friends, family, experts, and a child entertaining/distracting device, a device to record photos and videos and capture memories, and a device that lets me keep on top of my work (if I need to). I can film one of the kids doing something silly, and share it with family and friends all over the world within minutes!

What's your favorite app for moms?

Oh goodness, I really don't think I could pick just one app! There is such a wealth of apps out there for all different situations. Both my iPhone and my iPad are full of apps - I have so many that I'm frequently having to organise them to make sure I don't run out of screen space. There are apps to distract the kids with, apps to help me organise myself, social media apps to help me stay in contact with friends and family, shopping apps to help me do my online shop on the go... How can I choose just one of those? OK, OK, if you're going to force me to select one out of my hundreds of apps I choose the Disney game "Where's my Water?". A very inexpensive, very addictive puzzle game, which I have the rather dubious honour of holding a 100% addiction rate with everyone I have ever recommended it to, from my 4 year old daughter to my significantly-older-than-that father! A game with that wide an appeal doesn't come along very often, and one of the things I love about it is watching my husband and my daughter sitting together, figuring out the next puzzle. A great app for all the family.

What's the coolest gadget you've seen that could help moms?

When my children were babies one of my favourite gadgets was my video baby monitor. It was very reassuring to be able to see each of them sleeping (or not!), and helped me stay (mostly) relaxed about their sleep. There are a new generation of these monitors coming which use your iPhone or iPad to show the video picture, rather than needing their own monitor display. I love the idea of flicking between apps on my iPad and being able to keep an eye on the little ones at the same time. Of course my two are too old for this now, but I think it's great for new mums!
