Top 25 Daddy Blogs
We've all heard about the mommy blogger phenomenon, but what about the daddy bloggers? With the economy changing, more and more dads are staying home to take care of their children — and they're blogging about it.
The daddy bloggers on our list share what it's like to be awakened by their screaming children at 6 a.m., to scramble for just the right barrette for their daughter's hair, and to change poopy diapers after a blowout.
To give you a window into what family life feels like from the other side of the parental scope, we're thrilled to share the Top 25 Daddy Blogs, as nominated and voted upon by Circle of Moms members.

1. Gay Family Values by Bryan Leffew |

Tell us a little about your blog: We're just an average everyday family who happens to also be a same-sex family. We hope to educate, entertain, laugh,...and give food for thought about what it means to be gay in America. We are Jay, Bryan, Daniel, and Selena, known on YouTube as the Depfox family. When Prop 8 was approved in California on November 4th, 2008, we were a private family living in Northern California. Like many other gay families, we were angered and saddened by its passage, but had nowhere to go to express that anger or to talk with others who understood what it means to have your rights stripped away in such a manner. We did a search for "gay families" on the internet and found nothing reflecting what our lives really looked like. Thus, we put our first video onto YouTube. Just a simple video of our family sitting around the dinner table talking to YouTube listeners about Prop 8. That video did better than we could have ever expected and we saw a need to show people what a gay family really looked like. We wanted to put a face on the fight for marriage equality and to break some stereotypes about GLBT families. |

What inspired you to start blogging? I had always dreamed of being a dad, ever since I was very young. As I got older, and my wife and I tried to have children, I took the lion's share of doing the research. I subscribed to all the parenting magazines, read all the books, even subscribed to the parenting websites. What I found was that all these resources were geared towards the moms. Even after the kids came, everything seemed to be centered around 'mom' and very little about us dads. I’m a very vocal person and never had a problem letting people know my frustration with this lack of validation for us dads. I later found I had a hidden passion for writing and many friends and family suggested I start a parenting blog. A blog focused on being a parent from a dad's perspective. I’ve always felt that dads were the other half of the parenting equation and a blog was a great vehicle in which I could share my thoughts and experiences. Little did I know I wasn’t alone as there are many other great Dad Blogs out here as well. What makes your blog stand out? What are three adjectives that describe your blog?

3. Dada Rocks by Adam Cohen |
|
What inspired you to start blogging? I started blogging because my child was 97% percentile in growth so we were constantly growing out of clothes and baby strollers/highchairs/bouncers before any of our friends. So I was repeating myself a lot to the 6 or 7 people that were asking us about what we got and why... I figured blogging it would streamline the process down to one simple (product review) post, I never had a clue it would become this big. What makes your blog stand out? What are three adjectives that describe your blog?
What are you doing when you're not blogging? When I'm not blogging I'm usually playing with my toddler son, hanging with my amazing wife or just zoning out. |
