How Blogging Has Changed Me and My Family My blog started as a way to grow my business, but it has turned into much more than that. The blogging community is so rich with wonderful people that have unique stories and exciting experiences. As a military spouse, I know that where ever we are, or where ever we end up, all I have to do is reach out to the friends I have connected with through blogging, and I have something familiar again. Not to mention, it is an excellent way to keep family members in touch with how quickly the little guy is growing, and all of the projects we have been working on! 23A Modern Day Fairy Tale by Randi |
What Inspired Me to Start Blogging Growing up I always loved writing. In my spare time I could be found typing away or when I didn’t have access to a computer, with a pen and paper in hand. When I was 17 or 18, a story that I’d been writing on for 5-6 years (and had no backup of) was completely lost when my laptop crashed. From that point, a serious long term case of writer’s block set in. I recently decided I missed writing but the writer’s block was still there. Meanwhile, I was constantly sharing recipes and stories about my son via Facebook, but there was only so much you could put in a status update. So I started the blog as a way to share these stories and recipes and also in hopes that I would be inspired again. While I don’t feel as my writing is to where it once was, I have enjoyed having it as an outlet regardless. Shortly after my son turned 2, our life changed dramatically when my son was diagnosed with Autism, and I took things in a different direction. Autism awareness has always been very important to me, but having my son diagnosed added fuel to the fire. I knew I wanted to use my blog to spread awareness and share more about the struggles that come with it as well as the progress my son has made along the way. How Blogging Has Changed Me and My Family I can’t honestly say that blogging has changed our journey as a military family, but it has given me something to do during this long deployment. I have also found some great military blogs that I love and always enjoy hearing from fellow military wives who have gone through the same struggles we go through. 24Our Letters to You. A Military Family Blog. by Leanne Kocsis |
How Blogging Has Changed Me and My Family As I worked to sort out my own emotions, thoughts and fears during my husband's deployment I learned that I am not alone! The community, neighbors, friends, even businesses are there for us. They want to help but don't always know how. Blogging has helped me introduce my military-family (and I'm talking in the broad spectrum) to that community. It has changed me greatly knowing that I have an impact on those all around me and sharing my story is just a piece of the American Military Family. Three Words That Describe My Blog Empowerment. Supportive. Real. My Favorite Posts |

How Blogging Has Changed Me and My Family When you are in the military it often means being stationed far away from anywhere you've ever called "home" or planted roots — far away from family and friends. Blogging has changed our journey as a military family because not only does it keep us connected to our family members living far away, but it has connected us to others who are facing the same things we face every single day. We are able to share our stories, our tips, our struggles...through the power of sharing we are able to come together despite great distances and not feel like we are fighting a battle on our own, but rather that there are many others out there who are right beside us and who are going to be there to pull us up when we are down just as we can rally and pull together to encourage another military sister who needs a lift. Three Words That Describe My Blog Encouraging. Sincere. Informative. My Favorite Posts |
