16Boerman Ramblings by Chrissy Boerman |
What inspired you to start a mom-shop? I lost my job about 4 years ago and was having a hard time adjusting to being a stay-at-home mom. I started blogging again and then joined a MOPS group at my church last year. My super awesome mentor mom and another friend taught me to sew. That opened a whole new world to me. I began creating things to stay busy and then the orders started coming in. At first I started making things just for friends. My 2011 New Year's resolution was to sell 30% of what I had already made. I opened SimplyCreated on Etsy.com and things have just blossomed from there. What are your three most popular items?

What inspired you to start a mom-shop? I've always been a creative person. Growing up, I was the girl with the tackle box of crayons and marker smears all over my hands. Once I learned to embrace my strengths, I became very proud that I’m the dubbed ‘creative one’ among friends. I have a background in watercolor and oil painting. Lillypie, or the idea of having a handmade business, has always been in the back of my mind. I’ve always wanted a place to create things that I love and enjoy. After having my daughter, I began to see the possibility that YES, I can become successful and YES, I am capable of making this dream of mine come true. Lillypie is a place for me to do that. I love creating items for women and the littles in their life.

18Momma Go Round by Nina |
Tell us a little about yourself: I was born and bred in Southern California, moved to Northern California for six years (hate the place, love the people), and am now happily back in SoCal. I am lucky enough to be married to my middle school (I know, barf) sweetheart. Though I originally thought he was soooo cool cause his initials were BSB (Backstreet Boys people, mid 90's, it was awesome!). I found out he is a wonderful, caring, ginormous dork, just like me, and we've been driving each other nuts ever since. I am mommy to my fabulous little LJ who just lights up my life. I always wanted to be a mom, but I truly had no idea how much fun it would be. We love to go on adventures, try new things, and get into all sorts of trouble...most of which is chronicled here.
