The Best Part of Living in New York City For me, the best part of NYC is definitely the people. No matter what you may have heard, New Yorkers are the greatest people on earth. My Favorite Kid-Friendly Activity in New York City There are so many wonderful things to do in NYC with kids! In nice weather we love the parks — Teardrop Park in Battery Park City and Hippo Playground on the Upper West Side our two of our favorites — and on rainy and cold days nothing beats the American Museum of Natural History, where our kids never miss the Whale Room. The Biggest Challenge of Raising Children in New York City The biggest challenge for many parents in NYC is the space — or to be exact, the lack of space. Strollers, scooters, bikes, bouncy seats, all these kid necessities take up way too much space. Not to mention the play kitchens that are bigger than most of the real ones in NYC. And where in a NYC apartment are you going to stow the kids' 452 stuffed animals? Favorite Posts Picking favorite blog posts is like picking favorite children, it's impossible. So I picked two that reflect life in New York City, and one from my ongoing series of Instructions for my Husband, which is always a crowd-pleaser. |

How Long I've Lived in New York City I have lived in NYC, on and off my entire life. I was born in Brooklyn, went to college in Queens, before eventually moving to Manhattan. I am, to the bone, a New Yorker. My Favorite Kid-Friendly Activity in New York City People always say the diversity and it sounds so cliche, but it's true. I love the diversity in all NYC has to offer: people, scenes, activities, food — you just never know what will happen or who you will see or meet on any given day. So, with my kids, I love to just walk the city. Our most fun days are usually never really planned. We go out and let things happen, and it almost always does. The Biggest Challenge of Raising Children in New York City Lack of living space is a huge challenge. The competition for access to good services such as day care, schools, programs. As a parent you have to constantly be in the know, be aware, be well-connected, and be ready to pay. Favorite Posts
