When Photography Became an Important Part of My Life Photography became an important part of my life after my first son Dustyn was born. I wanted to capture how quickly he was changing. What Makes a Great Family Photo To me a great family photo is a natural photo. I love lifestyle photography and love capturing the "real" moments between family. That way you can look back and see what your family was like at that point in your life. A Tip for Taking Photos of Kids My top one is to get down on their level. Take close up photos of the little details, eyes, nose, mouth, hands, feet, etc. Make sure you have a fast shutter speed because they are fast. Three Favorite Posts

When Photography Became an Important Part of My Life I have always believed it is important to capture life with the camera. My first love is landscape photography. I still love it! However, now that I am a parent I adore capturing (or viewing captures of) relationships and personalities — lifestyle photography. What Makes a Great Family Photo Capturing the family's connection is what makes a great photo. Keep it organic. Include laughter, an embrace, or a kiss. A Tip for Taking Photos of Kids Don't stress about making them pose and smile. Instead, create an atmosphere that brings out their smiles and laughter, then snap! Capture their personality! It is nice to have a helper that stands behind you and makes silly faces. Remember to keep your shutter speed at a minimum of 1/125 for sitting — for playful movement start at 1/250 and for sports start at 1/1000. If you don't use manual exposure on your camera try the TV setting. This setting will allow you to select the shutter speed and the camera will figure out the rest. Have fun!! Three Favorite Posts |

When Photography Became an Important Part of My Life I guess photography has been always important in my life. The necessity of freezing a moment to keep its memory forever, has always moved me. Becoming a mother, made me love photography even more, but starting my 365 project in January, was the beginning of my transformation. I decided to follow my heart and become a better photographer. With lots of support from family, friends and bloggers, I started to seek ways to improve, ways to find my voice and be happy about it. I love photography because once you are in this path, it is a non-ending journey. What Makes a Great Family Photo In one word: Simplicity. With simplicity an image can be immortal and tell a story for years to come. A Tip for Taking Photos of Kids As a beginner sometimes is very frustrating think about the technical aspect of photography, have the child still long enough to process so much information, and on top of everything have pictures that are consistent. So, in my opinion the best advised I have ever received was PRACTICE. Relax, get down to child’s level, be goofy and play along. You will have tons of bad photos and also some great ones, but with practice and confidence in your inside voice, things will get easier Three Favorite Posts?
